"They were very professional and efficient. It was a large lot around a house with lots of tree and shrub stumps. It was done quickly, they cleaned up and were on their way. I received an email later with an invoice and a link to pay online! Very easy and convenient!"

"It went great! I was able to communicate everything by phone and text message. I called and my call was returned the same day. I was able to text pictures of the work I needed done. Chris came by to look at it while I was away. He sent me a quote and the work was performed a couple days later. I will definitely use them for any tree work I need in the future."

"Brand came to give an estimate Tuesday (I called Monday) on removing a medium sized maple tree and grinding its stump in my front yard, and of trimming the dead branches on another maple in my backyard.  The estimate was low--only $550.  I called back Wednesday, after another estimate, to verify that his included all cleanup and haul away service.  It did, so I accepted his estimate and he said he could come the next morning.  They arrived at 8:45 and were gone by 10:45.  Everything has been cleaned up and Brand explained to me what to do when the earth begins to settle under the area where the tree and its raised root structure was ground out.  I am really impressed with the work he and his crew did, the reasonable price, and the speed with which the job was done.  Will I use them again?  Absolutely!

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Yes, it can be good to remove dead branches from trees. Dead branches can lead to rot in other areas of the tree. They can also cause damage if they fall on a house, shed, fence, car, pool, or other structure or property. However, it’s important that dead branch removal is done safely. If the branch is high in a tree or requires a lift or ladder to access, consider calling a professional tree removal company, as they will have the experience and equipment to do the job safely.

The best time to trim trees is in late fall through winter when the tree has slowed its growing for the year. Cold weather stops insects and fungal growth from attacking a new tree wound. Summer and fall are considered the worst times to trim trees, but it’s permissible in certain scenarios, such as tree disease, damaged branches, or small, aesthetic cuts.

Pruning trees during the summer can be a bad idea because the new growth will take place during the hottest months of the year, which can stress your tree out. Similarly, pruning during the early fall can be a bad idea, too, because you’d be stimulating new growth when most trees are aiming to go dormant.

Pruning recommendations will vary by the type of tree, but generally, waiting until winter to prune your trees is a good idea.

Deciduous shade trees (the type of trees whose leaves fall off in autumn) need to be pruned in late winter—between February and March. That’s because it’s easier to find and remove sick or dead branches when no leaves are present. And wounds close and heal faster in colder temperatures so pruning them at this time also makes them less prone to infection.

Costs reflect the size of the tree or shrub, the complexity of the task, location accessibility, and disposal needs, and comprehensive quotes vary accordingly.
