"The team was great!! Removed old fence and had a 5' black chain link installed. Such a good job. All extra dirt and anything on the ground from their work was removed. Old fence and poles rolled up and stacked. The new fence is just beautiful. Great team and I would recommend them. I am extremely happy."

"They do exceptional work. They built a ramp off of my deck. Also critter-proofed my shed. They did exactly what was written in the contract, showed up when they said they would and finished the job in a timely manner. High quality work."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

For fencing work in Niles, MI, check for uneven ground, steep slopes, or areas where water pools after rain, as these can affect fence stability. The region’s clay soil may require deeper posts or added drainage. Look for large tree roots and always confirm utility locations before digging. If your property is in a historic district, certain fencing materials or heights may be restricted.

Helpful?

In Niles, MI, signs your fencing may need to be redone include leaning or wobbly posts, sagging gates, and gaps between panels—often caused by frost heave or shifting clay soil. Look for rust from winter road salt, wood rot near the ground, and hardware that’s come loose. Discoloration from sun exposure or visible animal damage also signal it’s time to consider replacement or repairs.

Helpful?

Most standard fencing projects in Niles, MI, take 2-4 days under normal conditions. Larger or more complex installations can extend up to two weeks. Spring’s wet clay soil often slows progress, sometimes by up to half. Permit processing typically adds another week or two, and material delivery delays are common during peak season. Unpredictable local weather can also impact your project timeline.

Helpful?

In Niles, MI, habits like piling snow against fences, using salt-based ice melt nearby, and failing to clear wet leaves can trap moisture and speed up wood rot or rust. Overwatering lawns close to the fence line is especially risky with the area’s clay soil, which retains water. To extend your fence’s life, gently clean surfaces and inspect for loose hardware after seasonal temperature swings.

Helpful?

Postponing fencing repairs in Niles, MI, can let frost heave shift posts out of alignment, especially during freeze-thaw cycles. Damaged or weakened fences are more likely to collapse in high winds or storms, creating safety hazards. Delaying also increases the chance of wildlife entering your yard or neighbors disputing property lines. With Michigan’s short building season, waiting may mean fewer available fencing contractors.
