"I was very pleased with the blown fiberglass insulation they installed in my attic. It's a nice, clean job with quality insulation. I had 5 quotes from companies and this was by far the best value for the job."

Small jobs welcome

"From the consultant, Joe, to the five men that came to my home, I was impressed with the professionalism and respect for my home. Tyler,Jake, Chuck, Dustin and Scott made sure everything was installed with exceptional precision and attention to detail. It took a full day to accomplish. They arrived on time, and cleaned up afterwards throughout my home and garage. Protective covering on their feet with additional protective materials on my floors and walls were used. Their care and respect went above and beyond. The product is eco friendly, fire retardant and mold resistant. And my home is warm and cozy. Removing all the old and filthy insulation that is 37+years old and leaving my attic space and foundation areas sealed and cleaned just makes everything feel buttoned up and tight. Highly recommend! Special shout out to Makaila and Katie, office personnel that kept in touch and applied for eligible rebates to help keep costs down as well. Thank you!"

"Bill from WBI was the first to contact us and the first to give us a quote on the insulating of the attic and crawl spaces of our old farmhouse. The price was very fair for the professional quality of work we received. Bill is a very honest, competent, hard-working professional. He got the job done very quickly, and we are beyond pleased with the work he did for us. We can't say enough good things about WBI, and we highly recommend them!"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Most homeowners installing blown-in insulation as a one-off DIY project should simply rent a blower. They tend to be very heavy, and contractor-grade machines can cost $13,000 to $16,000.

The cost to rent an insulation vacuum ranges between $250 and $350 per day. The price will increase if you choose to rent for additional days, but you may get a discounted daily rate if you rent it for a whole week, which could cost up to $1,000. Once you've removed the insulation and are ready to replace it, the cost to rent a blown-in insulation machine ranges between $100 and $500.

Yes, insulating hot water pipes helps your system run more efficiently. This is especially true in basements in colder climates, where cold air likes to settle in. There are a few ways to insulate water pipes (foam is common) to keep hot water hot, reducing the need for your water heater to constantly heat the water in the tank or your circulator to kick on more than necessary.

Garage door insulation can last anywhere from 20 to 100 years depending on the type of insulation. Cellulose has the shortest lifespan coming in at between 20 and 30 years, while spray foam, mineral wool, and fiberglass can last between 80 and 100 years with proper maintenance.

Humidity plays a role in how long more susceptible insulation materials—like fiberglass—last. Once fiberglass batts reach the 15-year mark, you'll need to routinely inspect your insulation to ensure that it is in mint order.

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.
