"These guys are the best! I had a very very old garage door system in a 53 year old house and the door was very heavy and wooden, but was very dangerous because the last time I used it the door almost slammed to the ground when it closed. I called Mid Michigan Garage door and was so grateful that they could come out the next day to fix it. I had been parking on my driveway but had noticed that chipmunks and squirrels had been running around underneath it. They put an entirely new spring system in to redesign the system, and got rid of the old pulley system that had been used. Their quality of work was outstanding and the price was more than fair. I would definitely highly recommend this company to anyone!"

A prefab, or prefabricated garage, requires far less construction work than one with a foundation and frame, but it’s not nearly as desirable and may not be a worthwhile option. Plus, you can use a standard garage for more uses—like living space—whereas a prefab garage only serves as a space for storage. Although the cost of glass garage doors is a concern, a bigger concern is safety against high-wind storms and burglars breaking the glass. If you use tempered or impact glass on your garage door, it’s more shatter-resistant than standard glass. This is safer in a storm where you don’t want shards of glass flying around. However, if a burglar wants to access your garage, the glass door is easier to break into than a solid wood or metal garage door. 

In most cases, it’s cheaper to build a garage, but it depends on how much of the labor you do yourself. If you can do most of it yourself, it tends to be cheaper than buying a prefab garage. But if you hire a contractor to build it, it’ll likely end up more expensive than a prefab garage.
