"He fixed up my cobble stone in the basement and our old barn. It looks good and the stone is now stable and secure. We also got a sliding barn door on our barn. It opens smoothly."

"Fantastic! I hired Stateline to get my house ready to sell. Even though the house is only 1100 Sq ft I need EVERYTHING painted; all the walls & ceilings in the first 2 floors including hallways & also the floor & walls of the basement. Quite a large undertaking to say the least. Josh not only completed the job by the promised date, he even powerwashed the outside for me! The house looked phenomenal & I sold above asking! During showings many comments were made about the paint. He is so friendly & easy to work with! I have recommended Josh to several of my friends & associates & would absolutely not hesitate to use hime for other projects!"

Small jobs welcome

"We hired Matt to help replace some drywall that had to be removed due to a leak. He was able to install the drywall and paint it within the agreed upon timeframe. His work was clean, fast, and he was a pleasure to work with. He was honest with his pricing and takes great attention to detail with all of his jobs, no matter how big or small."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

New plaster must be fully dry and cured before painting. The drying time for plaster ranges from 1 to 4 hours, but the curing process can take more than five days, depending on various factors, including humidity levels, temperature, the amount of plaster used, and airflow in the area. You should always apply primer before painting plaster.

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.

When used correctly, drywall patch kits can work well. However, there are limitations. Specifically, these kits can only cover holes up to 5 inches in diameter. For anything larger than that, you’ll need to cut out the affected section of drywall and replace it with a new piece. That’s a far more complicated process that involves buying the right type of drywall, finding the wall studs, cutting into your wall, and screwing the replacement drywall in place.

Textured walls can increase the value of your home if the style is modern and seen as a desirable feature and not something a prospective buyer would need to remedy. A good example of this is popcorn texture versus Venetian plaster. The plaster wall would add value to your home, whereas the popcorn texture may be something a new buyer would want to remove.

If you only have tiny holes in your drywall (for example, dents or nail marks), you probably won’t need a patch kit. Instead, you can plug the hole with a small amount of spackle. Once the spackle dries, you can sand the area and paint over it—just like you would in the steps outlined above.
