"I was extremely happy with Power Home Remodeling. I recently had my 25 year old windows and doors replaced. After having this completed, I decided I really needed to replace the wood siding for aluminum siding and gutters. I’ll never have to paint again!"

"We have used Rock Solid now twice on two different houses. Both times we have gotten roofs with the platinum package and gutters and the second time we needed to get new insulation and siding too. We couldn't be happier with our decision! They got the entire project done in just a few short weeks after having to contend with lots of fall rain and it looks amazing! But better than the look is the fact that our roof no longer leaks and neither does our siding. The service, quality of product and workmanship far exceeded our expectations both times. You will likely be able to find a cheaper price from another company but you get what you pay for and the superior result we have received and piece of mind for so many years to come is well worth the cost."

"Amazing. I had great intuition on Dennis, Joe and Raymond. And wow. They delivered exceptional work! The project had a lot of turns given its age (1920s home) and they were up to task. Dennis was the general contractor that lead the team figuring out the most effective way to handle each “project”. He handled roof extensions, roofing, flashing, crocks for the downspouts, gutters with gutter guards, painting etc. Ray did a great job on siding and all metal work needed. Joe was a great addition to Dennis’s team and was there every day to assist with high quality work. Not only did they do great work, they are just great people. Showed up when asked, delivered until the job was complete (2-3 week job) and can’t say enough how grateful I am for these guys. I will be hiring in the future 💯"

Siding questions, answered by experts

You have several options you can choose from for climbing plants without damaging your siding. Climbing hydrangea and Carolina jessamine are two options, and jasmine, honeysuckle, and sweet pea are a few others. Look for these climbing plants to add lovely curb appeal and are less likely to cause damage to your siding.

You should plan to stain or refinish your home's cedar siding every three to seven years to maintain its appearance and provide maximum protection, though some estimates suggest a range of four to six years. The exact frequency depends on several factors, including your local climate, exposure to severe weather like direct sunlight, rain, and wind, the quality of the initial stain application, the type of stain used, and the overall condition and quality of the wood.

For homes in harsh climates with high humidity and significant sun exposure, you should plan on staining as often as every three years, while those in milder locations may only need to do so every seven years. For the longest-lasting protection in particularly harsh climates, consider using an opaque stain.

If you are looking for a lower-maintenance alternative, you might consider vinyl or aluminum siding. While the initial installation cost can be higher, they do not require as much upkeep and can offer more value over time, especially in areas with excessive rainfall or high humidity.

Traditional clapboard siding, particularly with panels made from wood, is not a significant insulator on its own. However, you can keep your home cooler in summer and warmer with "insulated clapboard siding," which is a type of vinyl clapboard siding with a built-in foam insulation. Consult a local siding contractor to determine whether insulated siding is right for your home.

Yes, you can mount shutters to vinyl siding. Depending on the weight and material of choice, you may need more fasteners or larger fasteners to secure the shutters onto the vinyl surface. It’s also important to locate studs or drill into the window frame when installing heavier shutters to best hold the weight of the shutters if you opt for composite or wood shutters.

Wood clapboard siding needs frequent sealing to keep it in top condition—likely every two to three years. A sealant helps protect it from both moisture and sunlight damage. Your weather and climate will affect how often you need to seal the siding, but the pros recommend sealing it every couple of years. More durable woods in milder climates may not need to be sealed quite as often.
