"Excellent company. From estimate to finished product, this team was the best experience we have had with contractors in a long time. We had new siding, new gutters, and gutter protection installed. Every detail was attended to. Each and every member of the team was professional and extremely focused on customer satisfaction. I would highly recommend this company."

Small jobs welcome

"I highly recommend using Bob's Custom Trim! I had a difficult time just to get contractors to come out and give me a price to repair the siding; I believe this is because many contractors want to work directly with insurance adjusters and on large profit jobs. Bob was very different; he returned my call promptly, spent about 15 minutes helping educate me about the repairs, and showed up to my home on time. When Bob was looking at the needed repairs, he fixed them at that time (at almost no cost), and then assisted with what I could do to save money on other repairs needed to the home."

"The installers were fast and for the most part good. However, they did significant damage to my cedar siding, rain gutters, and trim. This appeared mostly due to haste and lack of experience with my type of construction. The entire staff as well as the owner keep saying that 100% satisfaction is their goal and to let them know if I was not. After several calls I was able to get most of the damage repaired to my satisfaction. They did continue to work with me on this."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Vinyl siding is the cheapest option in terms of upfront costs. The average cost to install vinyl siding is around $12,173, with certain types like vinyl shake, clapboard, or dutch lap costing as little as $2 to $3 per square foot. While vinyl is very low-cost, it may not last as long as natural materials or metal, with a typical lifespan of 20 to 40 years. In contrast, metal siding is more expensive initially but can save you money in the long run due to its longer lifespan, which is often double that of vinyl. It's recommended to consult a siding professional to determine if the lowest-cost option is the best material for your specific home.

To maintain vinyl siding, homeowners should regularly clean it with mild soap and water, inspect for damage, and promptly repair any issues. Avoid using high-pressure washing and keep sharp objects away to prevent scratches. Check for mold or mildew and clean with a mixture of water and mild detergent. Take preventive measures to avoid fading, such as minimizing exposure to direct sunlight and using color-safe cleaning products. With proper maintenance, vinyl siding can retain its appearance for years.

Dents, rust, loose panels, and weather-related damage are common problems requiring repair.

You should use a siding nail gun for siding installation, but if you don’t have one you can use a framing nailer instead, if the nails are long enough to firmly attach to the clapboard siding. However, framing requires longer nails that join lumber together. In that instance, siding nails will not be enough.

Vinyl siding is durable, low-maintenance, weather-resistant, and available in various colors and styles. It also provides excellent insulation, improving energy efficiency.
