Hello my name is Kylie, I have been in the drywall and painting fields for over 20 years. I am willing to travel over an hour from the Midland, Bay City, and Saginaw area for jobs. I do new construction and remodeling, full houses, additions, patch and repair. I am proficient in all aspects of drywall hanging and finishing as well as many different textures as well as painting. I am very easy to get along with and really listen to what the needs of the job are so making a plan that will be satisfying to the home owner.

"The  service went okay, the guy did a pretty good job. He was nice and did what i asked him to do in the whole 3 hrs. I was a little disappointed with the prep for putting drapes down he only had one. With it being the kitchen i would of thought he would of had covers for my cabinets and counters, knowing that once it gets sanded the dust and plaster is going to be everywhere. Luckily i had a bunch of plastic i used to cover my counters and cabinets.  When he was done the 3 hrs were up so i guess clean up wasnt really included in the 3 hrs.Which i think any person even if its over should clean up well but who knows. He tried  a little to tidy up but dust was everywhere. His work was good though, and clean up is the only thing i can complain about with him.  The only other problem I had was when i was setting the service up. I spoke with Jessica and asked her if i needed other work done would i be able to get a quote on that as well. She said yes we can give you a quote on other work too...  Well he said he was not really authorized to give a quote and does not know what she charges. .I am guessing he must not work for the company on a regular basis or she sold too many coupons and found people on the streets to do the work. I dont know what the deal with that was. I dont really have time to take another day off work just to get a quote so it would of been nice to get what i wanted at that point in time. Other then that the guy did a good job, and did what he could in the three hours. i was not going to pay anymore for him just to clean up that isnt worth 45 dollars or whatever else she would of charged me.

In response to the reply from Jessica,

You did not think the quote i wanted was for drywall repair at all. When i spoke with you  on the phone i specifically said i would need a quote for paining and you said that would not be a problem. If Neal is just drywall specialist.why would he tell me he paints as well? The cleanup would not have been a big problem if they would of came with proper prepping stuff. ie Drapes, Drop Cloths thats pretty basic when your doing any drywall repair  or even painting especially in a  kitchen.  that was the only problem. I am still cleaning up dust and such from it  almost a week later. Other then that i did not have a problem, only problem now is with how you respond to all the reviews people put. you have an excuse for every bad review. You should just take it all with a grain of salt and apologize instead of making up excuses for every single thing. I think it would come off better. Kinda like the customer is always right.

After cleaning and priming and painting the area that was mudded, the work really wasnt great you can still see the long crack that i wanted to be gone, and you can see spots that wernt sanded properly or something.. and left a lot of blemishes taht should of been sanded better i coudlnt tell till i primed that area and really got to see it."

"They were great.  The guy who came out to give me the estimate gave me a lot of tips on what to do with the baseboards and window frames and he was great.  The painters came out, they were time, they were neat, got the job done and I would definitely use them again."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Many services include repainting to match the existing surface. Confirm with your provider.

While it’s most common to sand plaster dry, it is possible to wet-sand plaster, too. Doing so can reduce the amount of plaster dust released into the air and make it easier to work in smaller, more delicate areas (such as around wall trim). However, some people find that wet sanding leads to more imperfections, which is why larger walls are more often dry sanded to ensure an even finish.

It’s not a good idea to plaster over broken plaster (unless by broken you’re referring to cracked, in which case that’s perfectly fine). However, broken plaster can be a sign of a larger underlying issue like foundation damage or severe damage to the lath holding up the plaster, so it’s worth investigating before you simply plaster on top of the damage.

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.
