Small jobs welcome

"While I was at a lost who to call,I remeber your ad how you pre check people. Uncertain I filed out the order. In less the 24 hrs he called me back setup an appt and came out. Low water pressure was caused by a plugged filter and stuck regulator. Put a new regulator on, replace the filter, good to go....ALMOST.. about 20 minutes later getting to water, low water pressure still. Called him back was back out in less than a hour. Had to adjust tank pressure. Found out hes only 10 miles from our house been in business 35 yrs. Nicest, friendly person, explains everything to you, dont know if all your people are like this, but this guy is real find. Got a few of his cards and if any of our neighbors need I a well repair guy I would diffently suggest Al."

"The guys from 4-Ever Water-Tite were great! Prior to contracting 4-Ever Water-Tite, I had problems with water and excess moisture in my basement. My basement walls were also pushing in laterally. They put in a perimeter drain system and a new sump pump. They also installed steel support beams to support the walls. I am happy to report that it has now been a full year since 4-Ever Water-Tite worked on waterproofing my basement and it has remained dry. I highly recommend this company."

Overall,  Matt and Tim were extremely thorough and detailed throughout the entire inspection.  Of all the inspectors I contacted, Matt was the only one to immediately offer me his resume and credentials to review.

The property they were inspecting was a bank-owned, foreclosed property built in 1870 and had the original Michigan stone foundation.  Due to a myriad of issues such as: foundational issues, major plumbing leaks, an additional crawlspace, one of the furnaces and AC unites not turning on, misleading septic records, etc., and the pure breadth of minor issues identified, the appointment lasted almost 2 hours longer than expected for a total of almost 6 hours.  They stayed the extra time and patiently completed the inspection and answered all of our questions.

At the conclusion of the inspection, Matt reviewed with us all the pictures he took (over 150) on his laptop and talked through everything we were going to see in the final report.  The report was received in approximately 48 hours, which was perfectly acceptable due to the large amount of issues identified.  The 50+ page, handwritten report FAR exceeded our expectations.  While the fees are a bit higher than others (keep in mind the total above includes well/septic inspection and water testing), Matt was absolutely worth the costs.  I would highly recommend Weatherstone to anyone who wants an extremely thorough inspection and not just a checklist of items reviewed.  If you are buying an older home specifically, you definitely want someone experienced in those types of properties.

"I've had Paul out a few times to do different plumbing projects in my home. He does a great job every time and charges a fair price. I have him scheduled to do another job for me shortly. I always recommend him to our family and friends and he's done jobs for them too. Look no further, PP's Plumbing is who you want to use for your next plumbing repair!"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Softened water prevents scale deposits, reducing appliance wear, leading to energy savings and longer-lasting household fixtures.

If your water softener repair is fairly straightforward, like a simple filter replacement, then you can probably do it yourself with little risk. However, anything beyond a simple fix should be addressed by someone with extensive plumbing expertise to avoid costly water softener problems, like leaks.

That said, even simple problems can be complicated to diagnose, particularly if your water softener is attached to a whole-house treatment system. So, unless you feel absolutely certain that the problem is an easy fix that you can take on yourself, it's probably best to hire a plumber to diagnose and fix the problem.

The main difference between a water softener and a water filter is what they remove from the water. A water softener is specifically designed to remove hard minerals, while a filter removes a wider range of contaminants above a certain size, such as bacteria and other impurities. If your primary goal is to remove minerals, a softener is the best choice. If you want to remove various contaminants for safety or taste, a filter is more suitable. Filters are also typically less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply's specific issues, you may need to install both systems for comprehensive treatment.

You can decide whether you need a water softener or water filter based on how your bathing or laundry experience is. If you notice issues like limescale buildup, dry skin, or stains on dishes—all telltale signs of hard water—you'd likely benefit from a water softener. However, if your main concern is over chemicals or bacteria in your tap water filter, and not just comfort, a filter is a better option.

Experts recommend that you put two to four bags of potassium chloride in your water softener every month. This amount depends on how much is in the bag (40 pounds is most common) and what your water softener manufacturer recommends. For more specific advice, talk to a water softener pro in your area and read the manual that came with your system.
