"They painted a shipment container. First, they power washed the shipment container and they painted it for me, and they clean up after themselves. They show up on time, professional, orderly, did a thorough job, clean up after themselves and worked with me in an efficient manner."

"TruePro Home Painters did an excellent job painting the interior of my home. He was very professional from our initial meeting to discuss the project through to completion. Chris communicated clearly about scheduling and was able to complete the work in a timely manner even though it was a one man operation. He took great care prepping each room and applying the paint smoothly and evenly. The end result looks beautiful the walls have an even coat of paint and the color match is spot on. Chris took care to fully protect floors, windows and fixtures as well. He cleaned up meticulously after finishing each room. I was really impressed by Chris' painting skills and ability to tackle this project solo. His work is high quality and he stands behind it. I would gladly recommend Chris for any interior painting needs. His prices were very fair for the great work. I will definitely hire him again in the future."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

The process of painting or staining a fence typically takes between one and five days. The total duration depends on factors like the size of the fence, weather conditions, and necessary drying times. A significant portion of this time is for drying, as stain won't properly absorb into wet wood. You should wait 24 hours to stain a fence after washing it and allow 12 to 24 hours of drying time between each coat. The active work time is generally about one hour for every 10 to 20 linear feet of fencing.

While the answer varies based on weather, 10 a.m. is a good time to start painting. The dew will have dried, meaning there’s no moisture on the house, and the temperature will likely be moderate and the sunlight less direct. Starting mid-morning should also give you enough daylight and pleasant weather to work on the job for several hours.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.
