"We hired Great Lakes Landscape Plus to add top soil and raise the grade of our front yard, raise and expand our flower beds, plant a dozen or more perennials, install decorative stone retainers, and much, much more. We liked their dedication and work ethic and decided to hire them for “Phase 2” which involved creating a new flower bed, adding an additional retaining wall, more plants, and of course a lot of mulch. Overall, we found them to be reasonably priced, diligent, friendly, hard working, and they communicated very well with us with special attention to ensuring we were happy with the plant choices and placement. This will depend on the depth of the structure. For a landscape, patio, or walkway that’s around 2 inches deep, a ton of gravel will cover around 100 square feet or about 0.6 cubic yards. Pea gravel can retain some heat, but it generally stays cooler than materials like concrete, asphalt, or stone pavers. Lighter-colored pea gravel reflects more sunlight and tends to stay cooler, while darker-colored gravel can absorb heat and become warmer to the touch.

While they’re popular and have a lot of pros, the cons of river rocks include the following:

  • River rocks don’t break down or provide nutrients to plants.
