"Yes, I went to Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s home to perform an onsite survey per his request. He shared with me another moving company's estimate and asked me if I could give him a quote instead of an estimate. I said yes, I would do that. I gave him an estimate the next day with a breakdown of our hourly rate and the estimated hours his move would take. He emailed me later that day to let me know he believes I made an error in my math as my figures didn't line up with my quote. I reviewed my quote and did discover that I had accidently added the Angie's List amount twice. I contacted Mr. [Member Name Removed]and apologized to him for the over site. He then began to continue to dissect my quote and based on my hourly rate, my quote should be lower. I did respond to him that when I give a guaranteed quote, I round my quote up to provide a little cushion, which was around $75.00 extra from what he thought the quote should be. I also reminded him that his final charges will not exceed the quote amount, although, if his move takes less time than estimated, that his final charges will be lower. The final charges if lower than the quote are not cushioned. After that communication with Mr. [Member Name Removed], he still wanted me to go down on my quote. I stated to him he has to make a decision whether he was going to accept my quote or not. He still had not responded to me one way or the other, so I did take my quaranteed price off the table and gave him an estimate which was actually lower than my quote amount. He again refused to accept my estimate as well. He just wanted me to stay with a quoted amount based on his numbers and not the amount I was offering to him. I stated to him that he really needed to make a decision on if he was going to accept my final offer, as I explained to him that I get calls daily for moves and I accept jobs on a first come first serve bases and if another customer accepts my estimate for a move on the days he is requesting, he will loose the opportunity for us to perform his move. Soon after that communication, I did receive a call for a move on the days he was requesting, so I accepted that move as it was a guaranteed move. Mr. [Member Name Removed]not one time ever gave me a yes answer on either one of my price offers. In Summary, my final quoted and estimated offers were lower than the offer he received from the other moving company. I was also providing free packing materials for his move. The other moving company was charging him for packing materials. I was also offering free storage overnight at my base yard as we were trying to accommodate his schedule. I feel I went our of our way to help Mr. [Member Name Removed]keep costs down. He just wasn't willing to accept the offers I gave to him and was attempting to get us to bring our costs down to what he wanted. We felt we were very fair to him, but at some point he needed to make a decision on our estimate. He failed to do that. We had to move on. Sincerely, Tim Pratt President Pratt Van Lines"
