If you're looking for an architectural designer who brings more than textbook knowledge to the table, you're in the right place. With over 40 years in the construction industry—as a builder, designer, and business owner—I’ve developed a deep, hands-on understanding of how homes are truly built. Every project, challenge, and collaboration has shaped how I approach design today. That experience allows me to design residential projects that go beyond the blueprint, grounded in practical insight and a lifetime of lessons learned on the job.

"I requested a quote from Ray at Original D & L Tree Service to do a major cleanup around my house. I told him the work I would like done. He provided me with an itemized proposal and was very eager to earn my business. He provided a very fair price and showed up on time to begin the job with his employee. Both Ray and his employee were very hard-working and professional during the entire process. I couldn't believe they completed the whole job in one day. I can't say enough good things about Ray, his company, and his work ethic. I would wholeheartedly recommend his landscaping services to anyone. I look forward to hiring him again for some other work I would like done around my house."

Architects questions, answered by experts

While towers and turrets are frequently present in Queen Anne-style houses, these design elements are not necessary for a home to be considered a Queen Anne. Turrets and towers add visual interest and unique interior spaces, but many Queen Anne homes do not contain these features.

You can draw your own house plans using three-dimensional modeling software, but in most cases, you’ll need an architect to draw up the final plans. Architects understand local building regulations and requirements, so their plans will be necessary for getting permits approved, and they’ll also ensure your home is structurally sound. DIY house plans can be a good place to start to help visualize your project, but you should always defer to a professional before trying to proceed with the project.

Above all, the downside to building a new house is a longer timeline. You need several months to finish the build, depending on the supply chain and labor availability in the meantime. Building a home compared to buying one is also more expensive, both in the building process and when it comes to mortgage rates and property taxes.

An architect plans and designs new construction and alteration projects. They often provide sketches for homes, office buildings, shopping malls, and other structures.

Yes, professionals will offer tailored solutions to fit architectural and personal style preferences.
