"John was able to bring our major kitchen remodel vision to life. James and Phil the carpenters were great, always on time, if not early. Recommend these guys for your remodel needs 👍🏽"

"All Pro Home Improvement did an amazing job for our kitchen remodel. They showed up on time, explained everything, and answered questions. We had a consistent crew and knew what to expect the next day. They cleaned up each night before heading home. Mark was very knowledgeable and helpful when getting started with this project and set us at ease. Would definitely recommend them and a friend just hired them too!"

"I could not have been more pleased with the outcome. My kitchen use to be enclosed, making it, and the surrounding rooms, seem very small. However, once Morpho Carpentry opened it up by essentially taking half of two different walls down, the entire area feels so much more spacious. They also gave me more storage for me by adding lower cabinets and a breakfast bar (so I was able to get rid of my kitchen table) which provided even more space. I am so pleased with the work. Everyone that comes into my home always compliments my kitchen. Thank you Morpho for making my kitchen absolutely beautiful!!"

"Chad and his team have done multiple projects in my home and this kitchen remodel was the largest project so far. Chad is highly responsive and gives you peace of mind that you can talk directly with the owner of the company. There were few hiccups along the way but honestly what project is perfect? Chad and his team were quick to listen and fix any issues. I highly recommend Uniquely Unique as a reliable and trustworthy contractor. Photos are the before and after."

Garages questions, answered by experts

In most cases, you do not need planning permission to change a garage door to a normal door, unless a specific restriction is present on your home’s deed. If you’re changing the door because you are trying to convert the garage into a living space, you will need to work with building control for proper signoffs to ensure your conversion meets all of the necessary construction standards.

Having a garage can increase the value of your home considerably, even if the garage isn't considered living space. Many people own cars and want a secure place to park their vehicles when they are home.

If you decide to finish your garage and convert it into living space, you may affect your home's value. The livable space may increase your home's square footage, which can help its value. But, giving up the garage space may also negatively affect the sale price of your home.

If you take caution around fragile garage parts, thawing methods shouldn’t cause problems. Avoid using direct sources of heat too close to the garage door, especially rubber parts.

Another spot to avoid heating is the garage door spring. This powerful metal spring can become very cold in winter. Applying heat to a cold spring increases the chances it could break.

It’s better to build a garage than buy and install a prefabricated one. You can save money by purchasing a prefabricated metal garage kit for between $4,000 and $11,000. However, this does not include the price of labor and permits, which can account for more than half of the project cost. Building a new garage over buying a prefab garage will add more value to your home and will last longer, so it’s more cost-effective over time to build a new garage.

Garage door freezing is prompted by snowfall and freeze/thaw cycles instead of the temperature. If you get a lot of moisture around the garage door, whether from rain or melting snow, and temperatures quickly drop below freezing (32 degrees Fahrenheit) at night, that’s a recipe for a frozen garage door. Winters with steep temperature drops overnight are more likely to create this problem, especially low temperatures to sustain a freeze, so weather in the lower 20s is a common culprit.
