"Ryan and Trudy scraped and power washed the deck then returned and scraped the deck again. They then applied by brush two coats of Sherwin-Williams Super Deck. Trudy (Ryan's wife) recommended a different tint to complement the siding. When completed our 30 plus deck looked brand new with a better color. Best paint restoration ever!"

"Quality of work was excellent. Our room wa thoroughly clean after the painting was finished. Cost was significantly less than the other bid I received. I will certainly recommend Mr Green to others and will probably ask him to do additional work on the future."

"I hired Painter1 after another painter did an awful job. Our first meeting with Painter1 was very professional and informative. We hired them on a Friday and they got us on the schedule for the following Monday. The painters that did the work did a great job and were very friendly and nice. We will definitely hire Painter1 if we ever need any more work done."

"Eric Rich and his 4-man team from Go Green Painters did outstanding work for us. They power washed and painted our house and power washed and stained our deck. They were professional and friendly. I was impressed with their attention to detail and the pride that each member of the team took in his work. Eric went on and beyond the minimum by replacing 3 of our deck boards. (Finding places to buy deck boards was not easy â he had to call many businesses before he was able to get them. (They are hard to come by at this time). I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Go Green Painters â They do much more than painting."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The plastic in composite decking boards protects them enough that you do not need to paint them to prevent warping. In fact, painting composite decking voids the warranty of some manufacturers. Painting can also increase maintenance on the deck, as you must paint regularly to keep it looking its best.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

By applying protective finishes and using durable materials that withstand weather and time.

The best exterior paint for the job of painting your front porch depends on the material you’ll be painting. Acrylic paint is often recommended for a wooden porch as it’s durable and easy to apply. If your porch is made of concrete, you’ll need to find a formula suited to that material.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.
