"Ryan and Trudy scraped and power washed the deck then returned and scraped the deck again. They then applied by brush two coats of Sherwin-Williams Super Deck. Trudy (Ryan's wife) recommended a different tint to complement the siding. When completed our 30 plus deck looked brand new with a better color. Best paint restoration ever!"

"Quality of work was excellent. Our room wa thoroughly clean after the painting was finished. Cost was significantly less than the other bid I received. I will certainly recommend Mr Green to others and will probably ask him to do additional work on the future."

"I couldn't be happier with the work completed by Garcia Painting LLC. As a family-owned company, they truly bring a personal touch to everything they do. From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, their team was professional, punctual, and incredibly detail-oriented. They took the time to properly prepare every surface, kept the work area clean, and delivered a finish that completely transformed our space. The quality of the painting exceeded my expectations, with crisp lines, smooth coverage, and outstanding attention to detail. What stood out most was the pride they take in their work and the genuine care they show their customers. The crew was friendly, respectful, and communicative throughout the entire project. I highly recommend them!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

When choosing between deck stain or paint, knowing what will last longer is important. Deck paint lasts longer than deck stain. With deck paint, you can get up to 10 years of coverage before you need to reapply. With deck stain, that time is significantly shorter at two to three years

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.

Avoid using cleaning products that are abrasive or contain bleach or acidic components on composite decking to avoid discoloration. Early-generation Trex decking isn’t designed to handle pressure washer cleaning—and if you use them on second-generation boards, always use a low setting to avoid the risk of damage that can risk voiding your warranty.

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.
