"We have a green roof, on an underground home. We choice Brothers roofing cause they specialize in flat roofs. Joe the salesman inspected the roof and offered options, Eric the contractor and his crew effectively problem solved challenges as they presented themselves. They were efficient, they had attention to detail and made recommendations to improve jointage. They pointed out the errors of the prev contractor and called it failed construction. Stucco is very challenging to DIY, so it’s always best to leave the work to professional stucco contractors. The same recommendation applies to painting a stucco house, which should be left in the reliable hands of a professional exterior painter. Inexperienced DIYers can make several critical mistakes during stucco application, such as:

  • Failing to apply sufficiently thick layers for longevity and water resistance

  • Uneven application

  • Uneven texture across the exterior

  • Mixing the stucco improperly, leaving a weak structure

  • Failing to texture properly in between coats, leading to cracking and chipping

The best adhesive that works on stucco is usually a product specified for use on stucco or concrete surfaces. The adhesive will need to be strong to grip the stucco, but should also wipe away clean when used in a temporary application. You can also consider using super glue or hot glue on stucco.

All of the components of stucco are non-combustible, so the siding material won’t ignite or spread fire to the interior of your home. However, it also expands and contracts with changes in temperature, so it will crack from long exposure to heat. Eventually, fire will spread through those cracks. Still, stucco is one of the best siding materials for fire protection and can keep you and your family safe for an hour, on average.

Solid, unpainted stucco shouldn’t suffer damage from dots of glue used for this task. If the stucco is dirty, you may notice slight marks when you heat and peel the glue away, but these aren’t permanent.

Stucco applied over brick can last 30 to 50 years or more when correctly applied and properly maintained. Stucco’s lifespan can be shortened by improper application, incorrectly mixed material, lack of preparation before application, and lack of maintenance.
