"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"K&M improvement did such an incredible job!! they gave me the kitchen and bathroom I’ve always wanted!! Our house is over 100 years old and needed a lot of work, they worked so hard and went above and beyond to make the outcome perfect! They are so professional and easy to talk to, I’d recommend their services over and over again!!"

"I had a mess! Floors, walls, and toilet damage done by a leaking toilet. Kelly and the crew came in, looked around and the wheels started spinning. It took a while to get the insurance company to deal with but once I had the go ahead... It was almost over and done. They arrived on a Wednesday morning, worked half day gutting the room. Then on Thursdaybitcwas all business. Building, rebuilding, laying a new floor ftom the joists up. Plumbing, replumbing and installing a new toilet and shower. So much had to be replaced, way above what was initially seen by insurance company. But Kellys crew did it ALL. By the following Monday afternoon I had a brand new, functional, logical bathroom. I would very highly recommend this company. Its very difficult to find any company to do work on a modular or manufactured home of any variety. Kellys Trim is your company. They will do the work, up to code and beyond and NOT take your head off or take advantage. I could not be more pleased. They have given me do much more than just a safe bathroom."

I am Scott Emerson. I've been in this line of work for about five years. I recently decided to branch off and start my own business, I've had great mentors and know how to do a lot on a house. From OSB, Insulating, Drywall, Painting, Design flooring, Steel roofs, Framing, Electrical, Trim, Setting windows, and doors. I'm sure there's more but I'm willing to work for the right price.

Home Building questions, answered by experts

A custom home is one that you design from the ground up, allowing you to customize everything from the square footage to the interior layout to all of the materials used. A spec home is one that a builder has designed and gotten approvals for. Spec homes may give you some limited options for the layout and materials, but most of the build is pre-set. Custom homes cost more and take longer to build.

Yes, a home builder or contractor should have the proper licensing and insurance. Licensing requirements vary by state and municipality, but most states mandate that a builder holds at least a general contractor’s license. For specialized work such as plumbing, electrical, roofing, or sewage systems, individual licenses may be required, in which case the builder may subcontract the work. You can use Angi’s state licensing tool to review your local guidelines and confirm a builder's credentials. As you browse professionals, you can also look for the “Angi Certified” badge. This indicates the business meets our certification standards, which include passing a criminal background check, holding applicable state and local licenses, and maintaining an average rating of 3.0 or better.

Whether it’s more affordable to gut a house than build a new one depends on the markets where you'd be buying and selling. However, it’s usually less expensive to renovate a home than to build new construction.

Most homeowners pay between $100,000 and $200,000 for demolition and remodeling costs, whereas the average cost to build a new home is between $139,000 and $531,300.

A contractor can install your shipping container home in as little as 90 days. This is notably quick compared to a traditional home build, which can take more than a year (providing there aren’t permitting or construction delays that make the wait even longer). For the quickest installation, choose a prefab container home.

Custom homes can take an average of 18 months to build, mainly due to the lengthy design process, and most projects take somewhere between 12 and 24 months. When you work with the right custom home builders near you, they can help you map the road ahead and understand what can speed up or delay the timeline. Choosing locally available materials, for example, can speed things up without losing that customized touch.
