"Michael Brooks and his associate came on time for a schedule basement inspection. They were very thorough and explained their findings and advice. They also explained financing options. We decided on the AquaStop Basement Triple Sump Pump fitted to the existing drain tile. With a deposit on the day of inspection, we were also able to finance the remainder of the cost, which helps us get through tax time. On the day of the install, Jacob called as promised to advise us of their estimated arrival time. The crew, Jacob, Dustin, Cesar, and Jaden, were efficient and responsive to questions. They explained all they had done and how each control worked. And best of all, they left the basement super clean after the work was done. Well done, guys, and well done FSM. Thanks for the peace of mind."

"The expert they sent out determined that I had two cracks in my basement wall. Other vendors said I would need a interior water drain system installed. Stay Dry fix the problem for a fraction of the cost."

"The plumber appears to have done a good job on the installation.  The problem with the service has to do with the price quote.  I called three different plumbing services for price quotes on this job.  They all quoted the same brand of pump and all added a contingency that would depend on the length of copper piping needed to connect the pump.  I wrote down the name of the business, their phone number and their price quote when I called them.  Integrity Plumbing had the middle price quote but very near the lowest price.  They were also able to come the soonest so I called them and requested the service.  I guess my mistake was not verifying the price quote when I called the second time but I have never had this kind of problem with a supposedly reputable service provider before (especially one on Angie's list).  He came to install the pump and provided prompt, efficient, courteous service.  Then he said the charge was $100 more than the quote.  The quote was $475 and he charged $575.  When he told me this, I checked the paper I had written my price quote notes on to see if there could be a mix-up.  The companies and their phone number were all separate, along with their individual quotes.   When I request a quote on the phone, I repeat the price and write it down at the same time.   I own several rental houses and have called contractors for quotes many hundreds of times. In previous years I had requested quotes in writing after I had gotten them over the phone and never encountered a situation where the contractor changed the price.  I never imagined a contractor on Angie's List would do something like that.  Now, the counter-point to this situation  is that I misunderstood the price.  I don't think that happened for a couple reasons.  First, Integrity Plumbing was the second quote I received and it was $75 lower than the previous quote I had just gotten.  It was not just a random price in my mind; I was comparing it to another quote.  Second, I wrote the price down.  I suppose it's possible to say one number and write a different one at the same time but it's highly unlikely.  So the bottom line is this.  Integrity Plumbing performed good work but I think they changed the price of the service from the original quote.  Oh, when I mentioned this to the plumber while he was he at my house, he denied any possibility of him providing a different, lower quote on the phone.  I have no way of proving what his original quote was but I will never use Integrity Plumbing again.  And I think they should change their name.

"Excellent. This experience was the best I have had hiring outside help. After it was installed, I had some concerns and asked Aaron to come by. He came over on a Friday evening and to my surprise, agreed and quickly went above and beyond to remedy the situation. He was understanding and agreed with my concerns. Later I was worried about a sound I was hearing coming from the sump pump. He came up on a Sunday and turned out it was my old pump (not the new one they had installed) that was making the noise. He removed it and clearly explained why it was making the noise. The perimeter drain, pump, and dry well that they installed have all worked great since the installation, which was nearly 9 months ago now. It was very clear making sure a job was completed well and with integrity was important to him. It was comforting to know I was working with a company who valued customer service and doing a job well. Their prices were more reasonable than the 3 other companies I had estimates from. I would definitely use them if needed in the future."

FAQs for drain pipe installation projects in Buchanan, MI

The regulations around whether drain pipe installers need to hold licenses or certifications differ based on where you live and the type of drain pipe installed. Municipalities have varying rules and regulations about who can and can’t perform plumbing work. However, we recommend hiring a certified plumber to install or modify your drain lines. Licensed plumbers will perform a high-quality, professional installation, which translates to a lower risk of clogs and leaks in the future. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to confirm the license status of your potential plumber before hiring them to install your drain pipe.

The cost to install a drain pipe is $600 on average, but the total can range between $150 and $2,000. Some cost factors that influence your project price include the type of drain, the area’s accessibility, the proximity of existing drain lines, and whether you’re installing a new drain or replacing an old one. Replacing the p-trap or s-trap under a single fixture will usually cost around $150, while replacing a main drain pipe can cost well over $2,000.

Plumbers will typically take one to two hours to install a new drain pipe, but that timeline can vary based on the area’s accessibility, the drain length, and the type of drain line. Replacing an easily accessible p-trap under a sink could take as little as a half an hour, while replacing a larger section of drain line behind the wall could take as long as three to four hours. When hiring a plumber for your specific installation, ask them to provide an estimated timeline to get a more accurate assessment.

You might need a permit to modify or repair any portion of your plumbing system, including drainage lines, depending on where you live. In some areas, simple replacements of existing drain lines don’t require a permit. We recommend asking your drain pipe installer or your local building department about permitting requirements. In many cases, only certified plumbers can pull plumbing permits, so you’ll usually need to leave the permit application to your professional. The fee for the permit will be passed to you on your project bill, though.

We highly recommend leaving the work of replacing drain pipes to a professional plumber. Drain pipes are a key part of your plumbing system, and making mistakes during the installation or even using the wrong size pipes for your specific fixture can lead to an elevated risk of leaks and clogs. Additionally, drain pipes prevent harmful sewer gas from entering your home, so hiring a professional plumber is essential to keeping the risk of leaks and clogs low and avoid reducing your indoor air quality.
