Customers say: Quality work

"Everything went well except that when the electrician installed a junction box (strangely, there wasn't one before), a large crack developed in the mirror. He stopped work immediately, called the issue to my attention and reported the problem to his boss. Streamline Electric called me promptly with assurances that they would have the mirror replaced. They were true to their word and, in fact, followed up with me several times to assure that the replacement was scheduled by the mirror company and then made sure that the electrician was present when the new mirror was installed so that he could finish the electrical work. Streamline gets the highest rating from me for outstanding customer service! Their professionalism and the quality of their electrical work was equally impressive as their customer service. I would use them again without hesitation and recommend them highly."

"Writer is a true professional and electrical guru. He arrived within the allotted time frame, got right to work and quickly identified the problem. He even welcomed me to watch him while he worked as he explained the intricacies of the electrical outlet (which was a GFCI multi-branched oulet, connected to other garage and bathroom outlets). It was clear he knew what he was doing. I would recommend him for any electrical problem or fresh installation, and plan to hire him in the future for other electrical projects I have around my house."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Allen Park, if you notice flickering lights after storms, outlets that feel warm even when not in use, or a faint burning smell near your panel, these are early warnings. Older homes in the area often have original aluminum wiring, which can loosen over time. If you spot discolored outlets or hear buzzing from switches, schedule an electrical inspection promptly.

Helpful?

In Allen Park, address any electrical issues involving burning odors, hot outlets, exposed wires, or water near electrical components right away, as these pose immediate safety risks. Upgrades like adding outlets or replacing light fixtures can typically wait. Consider the local climate—spring and fall are ideal for major electrical work, while winter is best reserved for urgent repairs due to accessibility.

Helpful?

For electrical maintenance in Allen Park, keep a non-contact voltage tester, digital multimeter, and insulated screwdrivers available. Stock wire nuts, electrical tape, both 12 and 14-gauge wire, and GFCI outlets for added safety. Outdoor-rated extension cords and weatherproof outlet covers are essential for Michigan’s changing seasons. Regularly test GFCI outlets and smoke detectors, and inspect outdoor electrical components each spring and fall.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Allen Park sometimes skip required permits, which can lead to costly corrections later. Mixing old aluminum wiring with new copper without proper connectors is a frequent local issue. Overloading circuits, especially after basement renovations, and attempting panel upgrades without a licensed electrician are common mistakes. Using indoor-rated materials in damp Michigan basements often violates local electrical codes.

Helpful?

Electrical work in Allen Park can impact other systems in your home. For example, upgrading your electrical panel may require adjustments to HVAC or sump pump circuits. Adding new outlets or circuits could affect finished basements or attics, and hardwired smoke detectors or security systems may need rewiring. Always consider how changes might interact with your home’s plumbing, heating, and smart devices.
