Small jobs welcome

"We were referred to AJ Pro Green by a colleague so we had them come out for a free estimate. They showed up on time and were very professional. They insulated our basement during our remodel and we couldnâ t be happier. The job was done quickly, was within our budget, and communication was fantastic. We would highly recommended!"

Emergency services offered

"This was our first time using Apollo Insulation and Geremy and Dennis did an excellent job removing our old (rodent droppings and urine) insulation. They disinfected and repaired any damage caused by the rodents. New insulation was blown in and we couldnâ t be happier. From the initial inspection and quote Geremy was on top of keeping us informed on what would be done to complete the job. Apollo Insulation cleaned up behind them inside and outside leaving our home with no mess. The price was very reasonable and we were very pleased and satisfied with the quality of the work. I highly recommend Apollo Insulation for any of your insulation needs. Very hardworking and professional service company. Bill and Anne G Wayne, Maine"

"Andrew and his crew did an excellent job! They provided all the insulation (dense pack cellulose, spray foam, etc) for our large 2 story addition. They were on time and on budget. In fact, even when Andrew realized he had inadvertently overlooked a part of the job in the initial quote, he let us know immediately about the oversight (before we finalized the contract) and he went above and beyond to still keep his word (and the initial price). Andrew was great at communicating with us about arrival times, etc. He kept us in the loop on everything. He and his crew worked diligently until the job was done, which took about 6 days. They were polite and professional. They kept the job site clean. They were very detail oriented, and we truly felt they wanted to do the best job possible. Andrew is very knowledgeable about insulation ......and cost competitive. We HIGHLY recommend Coastal Insulation for all your insulation needs!"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The average U.S. homeowner pays $1,850 to insulate their home. However, the cost of insulation depends on the type, the size of your home, and who does the installation work.

The cost of foam board insulation depends on whether it's made from expanded polystyrene (EPS) or extruded polystyrene (XPS). EPS has the lower price point, usually costing between $0.25 and $0.50 per board foot, while XPS costs between $0.40 and $0.50 per board foot.

Most homeowners installing blown-in insulation as a one-off DIY project should simply rent a blower. They tend to be very heavy, and contractor-grade machines can cost $13,000 to $16,000.

Air sealing isn't necessary for attic insulation, but it's incredibly helpful since it can help you identify and patch any existing air leaks. Failing to find these leaks before adding insulation can render your insulation less effective, leading to higher energy bills and potentially costly repairs down the line.

Insulation prevents heat transfer, which keeps your home cool in summer and warm in winter. Regulating the temperature in your home is not only more comfortable for you, but will lower your heating and cooling bills—it’s a win-win. Make sure to determine the correct amount of insulation to ensure it is enough for your home and climate.

You won’t find anything inside a cupola on a house because it’s hollow (think of an upside-down cup), allowing air to ventilate out of a roof via vents and light to come in via windows. They also usually have a base, vents around the middle (usually louvers), and a pointed cap at the top.
