Strong math background; Geometry, calculus, physics, was accepted to The University at Twin Cities Minneapolis/ St. Paul for astrophysics, fell through the the financial cracks. In retrospect, couldn't imagine sitting behind a desk 10 hours a day. Building is all numbers, be it cutting a board or utilizing the cut off to save the customer cost of time and material. "I signed a contract to have my roof replaced and have brickwork done. The roof was installed in January 2020. In August 2023, the interior ceiling had water stains. In December 2023, I received the following information from a roofing professional "i checked the whole roof over today. I removed and sealed 27 nails. The roofer did not install a single starter shingle anywhere on the roof. It looks like he made every installation mistake a roofer could make, from nail count, nail placement and nail depth to incorrect installation of the drip edge, the ice and water shield, and the flashings around the chimneys, skylights and the vent pipes. There are sections that should be ripped off and replaced immediately and there are sections that need to be tested with a garden hose. It's one of the worst roof jobs I've seen in 20 years. It's amateur hour up there. If you have the option to sue him, i would. The way he installed the roof is causing your siding and soffits to decay prematurely. The siding is all wet on the back side on the gable ends. I don't have anything positive to tell you about the roof. If there's a hurricane and your roofing blows off or leaks, the insurance company will most likely deny any claims if they see what i had to deal with this week." The roof was installed in January 2020 in 10-degree weather even though the contract specified that the work should be completed in November 2019. The property was littered with shingles and nails. I had to clean up the mess. Roserock did not do the brickwork per the terms of the contract because Roserock said the costs went up. I had to pay someone else to do the brickwork at a higher price. Numerous terms of the contract were breached."

"We had a great experience working with Wes from Boynton Builders LLC! We had a pretty extensive basement remodel / conversion to living space project that we needed help on, and we are extremely happy all aspects of this project using Boynton Builders LLC. Wes responded quickly to a voice message I left, was able to quickly schedule a time to visit to discuss our intended Scope of Work (which also involved another project re-enforcing a carrying beam and support post in our detached garage) after which he quickly provided detailed quote that fortunately fell with our budget. We agreed to move forward, and Wes went to the Town Office for us and took care of the Building Permit and were able to start our project within a couple of weeks and the work proceeded at a good clip with every stage discussed being performed in the order identified from the onset. As the project progressed, we added an additional phase to the scope of work (Install Flooring and a new double door) and he quickly estimated the additional cost got the next phase into his schedule about a week after the completion of the first / original project. Throughout the whole project Wes was pleasant, professional, motivated and productive and open to any requests for change as the space began to be completed and new ideas came into play as we were better able to visualize the final result. Wes completed all of the work on time and within the budget/ and additional scope estimates. We already have the next project planned and will be using Boynton Builders LLC again. Any friends that have seen the completed project state that it is "an incredible transformation" and we are proud to welcome friends into a space that was once an embarrassment. I would also like to mention that I originally reached out and left the same voicemail (one right after the other) for three different contractors and Wes was the only callback received, and that was within a couple hours."

Arctic Roofing General Contractors specializes in asphalt shingle roof replacement for residential and light commercial structures. We feel we build a better roof! We guarantee your satisfaction, and we won’t leave until the job is done right. We pride ourselves on the quality work we provide, while delivering great customer service! Check out all the services we offer below and call -or- click to schedule a free estimate today! ********ROOFING INFO******** Roof replacement: asphalt shingles. We begin with a full tear off of your existing roof, followed by a close inspection of the wooden decking. We then apply a layer of ice and water shield to the entire roof, not just the bottom three feet, giving you much greater protection in two ways. First, it adheres stringly to the decking, preventing any water-to-wood contact. Secondly, it creates a waterproof barrier around every single nail we use with a self-healing property which immediately fills in minor holes and seals every nail from leaking. From there we use CertainTeed Landmark or Landmark Pro shingles, the premium long lasting architectural shingles with a lifetime manufacturer's warranty. We use a minimum of six nails per shingle and replace the drip edge and if necessary, supply new lead flashing for chimneys and new boots for any pipes or vents that require them. We back up the materials warranty with our ten years of full warranty coverage for the entire process and generally use lifetime-warrantied products.

"Not well. A thunderstorm during roofing blew off the tarp they had over the roof. Water caused damage inside building. They offered to fix it but not to my expectations. Tried to go to mediation with them as contract stated but they never responded. Roof still leaks in the spring."

Siding questions, answered by experts

To clean painted aluminum siding, use a mixture of mild detergent and water applied with a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly with a garden hose to remove soap residue. For stubborn stains, cleaning aluminum siding with a power washer on a low-pressure setting can be effective. But avoid using high pressure, which could damage the paint.

You should consider a siding replacement material that meets your expectations for budget, durability, and if you want to complete the siding project yourself. Some materials are better than others in certain climates and easier to install for beginners. If you’re unsure which material suits your home, check with a local contractor for guidance.

While bleach can be effective in killing mold, it may not fully remove mold stains from siding. Additionally, bleach can be harsh and may damage certain types of siding. It's recommended to use specialized mold cleaners or natural alternatives that are safe for your specific siding material as a part of your regular siding maintenance

If you have significant home construction experience under your belt, you can install siding yourself. However, most homeowners don’t have the skills and expertise required to properly install siding, particularly vertical siding which requires more labor and materials than horizontal siding. So in most cases, it’s best to hire a pro for this job.

Some homeowners use caulk on the edges of clapboard siding to help seal it. However, this method invites new problems. With so many gaps sealed, clapboard siding is often unable to drain properly and moisture from rain or other sources can build up inside. This can lead to rot and other issues over time. When repairing clapboards, it’s best to avoid caulking the final product. The exception is trim around windows and doors, which should be caulked to avoid moisture problems.
