The following year I sent them an email when my spouse and I both got laid off and they also didn?t bother to respond. Shortly after that, it snowed and I was charged for plows, long after I had canceled?but yet my driveway hadn?t even done! So that confirmed my suspicions. When I emailed them back again, there was also no response. No apology or anything. Lack of communication and bad track of plowing. Beware!!"

If you have particularly sloped land, consult a structural engineer to ensure your hardscaping is adding value to your home.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Even with a relatively low wall, consider drainage if you are building on top of clay or poor-draining soil types or if there are buried water sources nearby, like a well used for other outdoor garden projects.
