"Pacific Stone did a nice job. Person in charge of scheduling measurements and installation was pleasant and courteous. Within a few days of my inquiry they came out to my house to take measurements and they brought samples to choose from. Installation was done within a few weeks after that. Took away the old countertops and sinks. They know what they're doing. One of the installers was actually the owner and they were prompt and professional and cleaned up well."

"Andy from Aqua Terra Sand Blasting is the best! First off we needed to get some old brown paint off a 50 year old cabin up in Maine and Andy was there to help. Now, Aqua Terra Sand Blasting is different from your regular old sand blasting technique. Andy uses recycled glass, which is much more cleaner and environmentally friendly than just using sand. Andy came out right on time and was done within two days and the cabin looked spectacular!! We had no idea how amazing the wood looked underneath that old brown paint. I would definitely recommend Aqua Terra Sand Blasting for any of your cleaning needs."

"Excellent! Bill was very responsive to my initial inquiry and set a date for the free estimate within a week. Others we contacted couldn't tell us when they could even come out for estimate. Due to the rain we had several delays where he couldn't work and he was prompt about keeping us updated. He shows up right on time and cleans up after the work. He's very easy to work with and is quite knowlegable about repairs. We will most definitely use him again and recommend him to others."

"Labyrinth Interior has remodeled our kitchen and both our bathrooms of our house. We chose Labyrinth because they are known in the industry for setting a standard for quality and a memorable experience. They handled the design, project management, inspections, and all the labor for all the projects. The designs do speak for themselves. They were designed to our liking and have made our living space more usable than it ever was before.

Matthew Fleury designed our kitchen. We ran into some issues that we did not anticipate, but we were not surprised since the house is older and previous remodels were not done to code. All changes (electrical, plumbing, architectural, etc.) are now to code.  One issue encountered was upgrading the electrical to the island in our kitchen. Because the original electrical pipe was not thick enough to pull old and new wires through, a new pipe had to be installed to get electrical to the island. There was also an issue after the project was done where the fan/vent installed had a small leak...which was only discovered after heavy rains. Labyrinth fixed this issue promptly. Matthew's design gave us a great-looking kitchen, more storage, and more natural light. We did use a temporary storage area for our kitchen furniture, but Matthew did build a small covered area within the kitchen/dining area for temporary use (ie. microwave, refrigerator).

Matthew also designed both our bathrooms. We love the pebbled shower floor in the Master. The colors make the room interesting dry or wet. The biggest thing was he made sure the water drains to the drain and did not puddle. The use of pebbles and colors, and the materials that Matthew chose was on target for the zen-ish look and feel that I wanted the bathroom to have. Without his vision of design, I'm not sure we would have gotten the room we wanted. We are very happy with this bathroom. I only wish our kids would stay out of it more often, but they find the pebbles so interesting.

The guest bathroom has more storage and is pleasantly a new look from the previous bathroom. The tiles, vanity, lighting, and colors really came together to give the bathroom a new look and feel. Even though the toilet, sink, tub/shower are in the same place as the previous look, the transformation is immense with Matthew's design. The colors added with the rain glass window make the bathroom brighter and much more pleasant than the former bathroom.

I like the way the Labyrinth staff works together to find solutions to the problems encountered. We could not be more pleased!"

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

One of the primary benefits of a soapstone countertop is that the material is heat-resistant. You can put a hot pan on soapstone, and it won’t scorch or crack. Despite being able to handle extreme heat, soapstone is much softer than granite, quartz and similar materials. This means that it scratches easily, so you should not prepare food directly on the surface.

A water-based, low- or no-VOC sealer is typically a good choice for marble countertops. Choose a sealant that is certified safe for contact with food when applying to kitchen countertops. For high-traffic areas, look for formulas that have heat-resistant and acid-resistant features. While there are economical and convenient spray-on sealers, they don’t coat the surface as effectively as the ones you apply with a pad or brush.

In most cases, chipped or cracked granite can be salvaged, but it depends on the size and scope of the damage. For example, a pro can smooth out small chips on the edge with polish pads or an angle grinder, but a crack that runs through the stone's surface has little-to-no chance of being fixed easily.

Quartz countertops are known for their durability, but they aren’t indestructible. Quartz countertops can crack under extreme pressure, like when experiencing a heavy impact. The same can happen with regular exposure to high temperatures. Finally, improper installation makes the quartz more vulnerable.

Onyx countertops are naturally porous, absorbing liquids and staining easily without proper care. Regular sealing every 6 to 12 months is essential to keep them looking their best. Daily maintenance includes wiping up spills immediately and avoiding harsh cleaners or acidic substances that can etch the surface.
