"Prompt response… very professional! I have been without a sink for two weeks, called a few companies and no follow up.. Tejadas was able to fit me in right away.. they were at my home on time and did a great job cutting my granite countertop and positioned my sink to get installed by the plumber… I would definitely hire them again for any future jobs"

"Dennis is an exceptionally capable and courteous professional.  When he bid the job, he went over all of the details, the timing of how things were expected to go and was very detailed in his estimates.  When we decided to hire him, he showed up on time and immediately got to work filling in the pool.  I was nervous about this, but I had done quite a bit of research and Dennis was willing to do it exactly as I wanted.  The processes were very quick and once the concrete had set, he got started prepping the walls and ceilings with patches and paint.  There were some delays on our side with the cabinetry, countertops and appliances, but Dennis was always patient and worked around the delivery schedules.  Dennis' partner Dave is an amazing carpenter and I would even say a craftsman.  He's not the most pleasant guy, but once we realized that, we let him do his work and it really was top notch.
Even when it came to the inevitable change order process, Dennis was really patient in explaining what needed to be done and the details behind any cost changes.  He wasn't pushy at all and despite some disagreements, we hammered everything out and left on a friendly note.
I have to add that we are VERY particular customers.  I can honestly say that I haven't ever been able to write such a positive review of a contractor.  In fact, I've rarely wanted to rehire anyone that had done work for us in the past.  To me, this speaks volumes about Dennis and his professionalism.
Everyone who has seen the before and after are completely shocked with the transformation.  It is such a better use of that space.  Some friends who thought we were crazy to remove an indoor pool are now in total agreement.  It is simply beautiful.
I'd upload photos if I could..can we?

"A corner had broken off of my granite countertop. I was thinking that I would have to replace the entire countertop. He repaired the piece and it looks wonderful! You cannot detect the crack at all. Was very thrilled by the work and would highly recommend"

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Yes, laminate (or Formica) countertops often come in precut sizes. It is important to measure your space and then do some research, or take the measurements to a local home improvement store to see if you can get the right size. If you do get precut laminate countertops, you may still have to cut holes for the sink and fixtures.

The best tool for cutting countertops depends on the type of countertop material. For some softer materials, like laminate (Formica) and butcher block, you can use a hand saw, but most experts recommend power saws like circular saws, since these make the job go faster and easier and give more even results. However, power saws and circular saws are dangerous if used incorrectly, and they can be so powerful that they damage or chip laminate, stone, and other types of countertops. For this reason, you should take safety precautions and use best practices to prevent damage.

Marble is a porous natural stone that needs sealant to minimize staining. Leaving this type of countertop material sealant-free means any liquids left on the surface will quickly absorb into the stone, discoloring it and dulling the sheen. Dark or acidic liquids, like red wine, coffee, and lemon, are the worst culprits.

Most recycled glass countertops are nonporous, so they don’t require sealant. There is, however, one major exception. If your recycled glass countertop contains a cement binder, it’ll require an additional layer of protection. Seal these countertops once or twice a year. Use a concrete sealant and finish it with a food-safe wax for a gorgeous and shiny finish. Otherwise, just clean the countertop regularly and always use a cutting board.

There are several countertop options available to fit your lifestyle and needs.

  • Granite countertops are durable and come in a variety of colors.

  • Soapstone countertops are prone to scratches and best in smaller kitchens.

  • Marble countertops are less durable than granite but a good option for busy kitchens.

  • Slate countertops are stain-resistant, making them easy to clean.

  • Limestone countertops must be sealed often to prevent scratches.

  • Acrylic countertops cost less than granite while still providing durability.

  • Laminate countertops are the most affordable but chip and fade faster.

  • Wood countertops need monthly sealing to maintain.
