"Scott has been awesome to work with! He ran point on a complete remodel of a cabin in NH for me. I'm not local, so having to do a major rehab when living 3 hours away was concerning. Scott and team have made it more than easy. Scott's communication has been 10/10 - He constantly sends photos, always answers his phone and ensures there is a weekly goal each week. He has also brought in some AMAZING sub contractors which has also saved me a ton of time. He has managed point with all of them which helped me in a big way. Scotts work has also been fantastic. We gutted two full bathrooms which turned out way better than expected. We also brought some "ideas" to the table as the relate to accent walls which he built perfectly to spec - Couldn't be happier with how they came out. I had Scott install some high end laminate flooring which apparently is not easy to install - They turned out perfectly. Scott went the extra mile to ensure it was done correctly. Scott and team have been awesome, I'll definitely be hiring them again!"

"This project was supposed to be "phase one" of three projects that we hired NE Renovation to complete.  On day one, the basement was prepped - all carpeting was covered and baseboard heating covers were removed.  Sheetrock was supposed to be installed on the next day, but due to a serious injury to the sub-contractor, that was not done.  Instead, demolition work began on what was supposed to be "phase two" of the project - the remodeling of a bathroom.  We had not been expecting this change in schedule and to be fair, neither did anyone else.  The basement project was put on hold until an alternate plan could be made.  A few weeks later, work began again on the basement.  The sheetrock was installed very well and in quick time.  The plaster work was completed perfectly which was no small task given the length of the walls. Additionally, the paint job was done perfectly.  The new six-panel doors, wall mounted television, upgraded lighting, and new baseboard heating covers helped complete the transition of the space from 1970 to 2012!

The value we received from this project has exceeded our expectations.  We added a pool table and two sectional sofas to complete our new recreational space.  It serves as a great "man cave" as well as a great place for family and friends to hang out.  NE Renovations did a great job renovating our basement."

"It was fine. The original design didn’t meet my needs based on the information I provided them. However, they revised the plans which worked out better for me. They were able to get the first draft to me pretty quickly."

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Kitchens and bathrooms are typically the most expensive rooms to renovate. The high cost is due to several factors, including expensive appliances like ranges, hoods, and refrigerators, as well as costly fixtures. The 'bones' of the room, such as electrical and plumbing, are also expensive to move or replace. Because of the vast amount of prep work, finishing, and specialized labor involved in a relatively small footprint, these projects can cost double or more than a living space remodel. Even when trying to renovate on a budget, kitchens and bathrooms will likely carry a hefty price tag.

Yes, most general contractors require an initial down payment, typically between 10% and 25% of the total project cost. This upfront payment helps cover the costs of materials, permits, and subcontractors. The remaining project costs are usually billed after specific project milestones are reached or on set completion dates, as outlined in your contract. Be wary of contractors who require a significant deposit of 50% or more upfront, as this could be a red flag for a scam.

Create a checklist, reimagine the space use, set a realistic budget, choose materials and aesthetic details, and get professional support for guidelines and troubleshooting.

Roughing in and connecting utilities are the hardest parts of finishing a basement, and they’re the parts we typically don’t recommend doing as a DIY project. Unfortunately, your finishing timeline can be extended by weeks while you wait for contractors and inspectors to install electrical wiring, plumbing lines, and heating/cooling equipment and carry out inspections.

Adding an extension or addition to your home costs more than a loft conversion in all but the rarest cases where the home's structural integrity is lacking. Because a home addition requires a new foundation section or significant structural upgrades to handle a cantilevered portion, the cost compared to almost any loft conversion is significantly greater for the same square footage.
