"Hi [Member Name Removed], I am sorry but I think you have the wrong company. We searched through all of our database for your name or address and cannot find your info for any work completed for you or at that property. We also do not have any foreman named Bob. We do have a very strict no smoking policy as well inside homes as well, so this really does not sound like one of our projects. I am sorry you had a bad experience, but I do not believe it was with us. We are Fortin Construction Inc. located in Auburn, I know there are other companies with similar names, so I understand you may have left this review on the wrong company page. We ask that you please remove this review from our page though since we did not work for you. Best of luck to you."
Once work got started it was done in a timely manner. Had to wait my place in the work queue. A crew of two did it all and they worked extremely hard even on some very hot days. They were both quite personable and friendly. They did a full days work and if anything I had to keep at them to stay hydrated and take breaks during the hottest times. Materials were delivered quickly and efficiently. The guy who dropped the dumpster (for debris) did an outstanding job doing minimal damage to the lawn area. A number of times I changed the job order by requesting additional things to be done (my fault, yes, it might have been smarter had I thought of this stuff before starting). Still and all they were able to work and deal with the changes and still get the mission done. There was a lot of debris but the guys somehow managed to get it all up and pack it into the dumpster in an efficient way. I was home during all of this and the crew was intrusive only as necessary to achieve the mission. Both the contractor and the crew were willing to answer my questions (even my dumb ones, and I had a LOT of dumb ones) without hesitation. The siding looks great, we've been complimented by many of our neighbors. The new back porch / deck thing is solidly built and once we seal coat it I expect it'll last a good long time. It has been 3 weeks or so since completion and we have had no reason to have to call them back for repairs or anything.
The old Masonite siding was a horror show. Found where carpenter ants had just moved in but hadn't started anything, yet. Exterminator took care of that, along with some pesky wasps or bees. D*** bees. Once the siding was off found all sorts of odd work that appeared to have been done by Tim the tool man, or whatever. The crew was able to deal with this stuff using their carpentry skills 'on the fly' so to speak and were able to do the insulation layer without too many issues. The siding went on fairly easy although the chimney area gave them fits. Pulling off the old siding was a nasty job, but they did it quickly and neatly.
As to the cost, we kind-of expected it was going to run a bit, but unlike shopping for appliances or a car, it is much more difficult to get any sort of accurate pricing info. We opted for a local company with a proven track record and history of many years of being in business. Fortin's has a good word-of-mouth rep and some background checking decided us on going with them. I'm satisfied that I got what I paid for and in the end that's all that matters. Yes, maybe someone else might have done it cheaper, but it's like having your car repaired. You can have your neighbor do it, or you can have a real mechanic do it and have it done right. The contractor, Ron, was right up-front with us; there were no "secret gotchas".
In conclusion I would not hesitate to call Fortin's if I needed them. I would also easily recommend them for anything. If they can't do it, I'm sure they would tell you !The experience was exceptional. The Fortin Construction people built our home in 2001. Their work and craftsmanship has been excellent on all occasions. If there is a problem or concern it is addressed with a smile right from Sherry in the office who is your first contact to Ron who does your estimate to the crew that does your work. For the smaller jobs you couldn't ask for anyone more professional and concerned about the outcome than Bub and Terri. They were both just amazing. They work on your home as if it was their own. You feel welcome to be involved as they work and take pride with them when the job is done.
You just couldn't ask for a better group to work with. I would highly recommend them over and over.
Fast forward to this summer - we saved up and decided to renovate- stage II. We made a wish list and in consultation with Ron, Fortin's project estimator, we prudently decided to scale back and get the most immediate bang for the buck. We had a garage door replaced with a window as well. Six upstairs windows were replaced. The big items were the kitchen counter, sink and stove top. The price quoted was the price paid, with one modification - window flashings (again communicated/agreed to prior to the work being completed). The workmen were courteous, competent and considerate. The plumbers were Robert III and Eric were delightful. They knew their stuff and it was fun watching them work. The counter was installed and cut out by Mike and Warren - good people. Mike without comment planed down a cabinet door that had been bothering us for awhile. Mike - thank you!! Ron stopped by at the conclusion of the day to review the day's work and to inform us that Fortin's was able to rearrange Terry's (the painter) schedule to have her available to paint the next two days to finish the project and let us reclaim our home. This was most considerate and did not go by unnoticed. Next year, if finances permit, we will revisit what was not accomplished this summer. Be assured that we will try for the hat trick with Fortin's Construction.
In conclusion, we enthusiastically recommend Fortin's Construction and do so without reservation. They fully, fairly and competently inform you and from our experiences live up to their word - something that few do these days.
Truthfully

"In response to this review of Fortin Construction, Inc. We did end up in arbitration like she said in her review. What she failed to mention is that we won the decision, and she was required to pay us in full. She also mentions that she hired us to finish her project because “winter was on its way” and she needed to get it weather proof in time. The truth is, that the code enforcement officer told her that she needed to tear down her structure and she hired us to fix her disaster. The structure included windows, doors, and skylights with no headers, no support beam for the floor, and walls out of plumb and square. We were very reluctant to accept this challenge, knowing that we could not fix the framing that was already done. We came in and did the best we could to avoid tearing down her poorly built structure, and told her not to expect our usual quality due to her poor work. We included a release in our contract that she signed off on, stating that her work would affect the quality of the finished product. All of her complaints are due to her own work. All of our other reviews are great with this single exception, which shows the issue was with the existing framing that we did not do. We are not to be held responsible for this framing, and that was also what the arbitrator determined."
