"I've been using the Dump Guy since he first started out years ago. Always prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. The prices also can't be beat! They've done trash removal, bulky furniture, house clean out, in ground pool dismantle, etc.. We never hire anyone else!"

"Kerry is awesome! She and her assistant were immediately available and arrived on time. The project was removed quickly and effectively. The cost was half of another estimate. Kerry even contacted me later to warm me that there might be some broken glass and she didn’t want me to be hurt. If you have a small or medium size project, your DEBRIS will BE GONE in no time."

"They were great. Very friendly, and helped us pack all the loose ends we didn't fit into boxes and brought wardrobe boxes for hanging items. Wrapped all larger items with moving blankets and helped disassemble and reassemble items that were large or awkward. Thanks"

"I had a Groupon for 1000 sq. ft. of driveway sealing.  I have about 2000 sq. ft.  I bought the Groupon and called, and I was told it would be another $170, so I wanted to set the appointment.  It actually took a year to get done, as he had too many Groupon customers and was giving scheduling preference to his existing client base.  Once we had the appointment, they arrived on time, could not have been more pleasant, did a great job, and left the area spotless.

Garbage Collection questions, answered by experts

Your garbage disposal will only affect the health of your septic tank if you’re using it too frequently, or filling it with organic waste that doesn’t fully break down. If the tank fills up with too many solids, the bacteria won’t have enough time to consume it before more is added, which can lead to an overflow in the drain field. Your tank will need to be pumped more frequently with excessive or improper garbage disposal use.

While the drain connection for a garbage disposal is nearly universal and fits standard sink drain holes of 3 1/2 to 4 inches, the size of the disposal unit itself is not. You must have enough space in the cabinet underneath your sink to accommodate the disposal's housing. A larger model may not fit in a compact cabinet or if the existing plumbing is arranged in an unusual way. Before buying a new garbage disposal, measure the available space under your sink. If you are replacing an old unit, it's often easiest to choose a new model of a similar size.

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.

In some cases, it’s more cost-effective in the long run to replace a garbage disposal, but it depends on the specific issue you’re having and the age of your disposal. You should ask a garbage disposal repair tech for a quote to repair your appliance and then see if it would be more worthwhile to replace it. Additionally, garbage disposals last for around 15 years, so if you know your appliance is reaching that age, it’s likely better to pay for a new garbage disposal rather than sink money into repairs.

The two main negatives of garbage disposals are they are a safety hazard in homes with children, and they frequently encounter blockage issues. While they might be annoying to fix and monitor, garbage disposals can significantly lower your trash use and are a great way to dispose of organic waste. While there are negatives, the vast majority of homeowners acknowledge the positives are enough to install a disposal in their home.
