"Jason and his crew did an outstanding job resurfacing our old driveway. He came out and gave us an estimate in early spring and even though gas prices etc have gone up still only charged us the original estimate price when they completed the job a couple of months later. He and his whole crew of guys were a pleasure to work with and we are so happy with the finished looks of our driveway. we highly recommend Jason for any work that you need done ."

"From the time we received an estimate from Joe Sparks to the time our driveway was finished, Joe was extremely professional and always called us back in a timely manner. We couldn’t be any happier with the new driveway Joe and his workers put in for us. We highly recommend them to anyone who needs a new driveway or any other asphalt job done."

"We were extremely impressed by Asphalt Techs as they arrived this morning around 9AM. They worked diligently all day to remove the old driveway. None of them walked but ran from one task to another. The were neat and clean, and polite. The prepared driveway was then blacktopped and finished by 3:30 or 4. Brandon LaSante, the owner was knowledgeable and answered our questions without any pressure when he came a couple weeks ago to give us an estimate. He was a pleasure to work with. We are very happy with the finished driveway and highly recommend him and his crew at Asphalt Techs. And his trucks and equipment was clean."

"Aaron and his team installed two stone, curved walls on each side of the end of the driveway (in the culvert). It looks fabulous and such an improvement from what was there. Aaron discussed the job up front, did excellent work, kept the work space neat and tidy at the end of each day, was very approachable and flexible when an alteration was needed for one side. He was very professional in his approach, but also friendly and interested in what you want the scope of the job to be. I would highly recommend him! Get him on your side for your spring projects!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Professionals ensure a solid base and smooth finish, enhancing durability and appearance.

New asphalt goes through two stages: drying and curing. Drying typically takes 24 to 72 hours, after which the surface is solid enough for light use like walking or careful driving. While you may be able to park on it after 72 hours, the surface is still soft and should be treated gently. Full curing is a much longer process, taking anywhere from 30 days to a full year for the asphalt to reach maximum strength. During this extended curing period, the asphalt is susceptible to damage from heavy vehicles, sharp objects, and high temperatures. Factors like weather, the specific asphalt mix, and application thickness all influence drying and curing times. For the most accurate timeline and to ensure the longevity of your new asphalt, it is always best to consult with your installation contractor for their specific recommendations.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

Asphalt dries and cures best between 50 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. This range allows moisture to evaporate quickly without causing the asphalt to cool too fast, which can negatively affect the drying process. However, keep in mind that other weather conditions can also affect curing and drying times, such as precipitation and humidity.

Regular sealing, crack filling, and professional inspections help extend pavement lifespan and prevent costly repairs.
