Customers say: True professional

"I was in need of a new installation for a ceiling fan. After reading the reviews, I decide to hire Crest Electric. Dale called to discuss my needs and quickly placed me on his scheduled. Dale was very professional and has excellent customer service. Dale provided me an ETA and was running a little late. He called me to inform me that he would be arriving a little late. I was very impress that he took my time into consideration. When he arrived, I had A TON of questions. He was very patient with me and answered all my questions with a smile. His work was very proficient. He even cleaned up afterwards. I am very happy with my new ceiling fan. I would highly recommend Dale for all your electrical needs."

"Great. Klaus was a professional from start to finish. He surveyed our needs and came up with a reasonable estimate within a day after we talked. He was on time for the initial contact and then when he started two days later. The fan installation was a breeze and the price was more than reasonable. I will hire him in the future and recommend him highly. It was a pleasure working with him, He was responsive to all of our needs and questions."

"It went great! Pete and Dave were fast, friendly, and professional. They did a great job installing the ceiling fans in my rooms. They made sure to protect my belongings so that nothing was damaged during the installation. And the quote they gave me was spot on. Their prices are affordable. For what they charged to install 3 fans, another company wanted to charge me just to install 1 fan. I absolutely would highly recommend contacting Supreme. I will be definitely contact them for additional work I need to have done!"

"Fred was amazing. He was always on time, got right to work, and did a fabulous job. Everything looks wonderful, and the living room drywall ceiling looks better than it ever has, and the house is 43 years old! We would -and will -hire him again in a heartbeat. What a super find!!!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Ceiling fans are very often worth the investment because they improve comfort in your living space and help reduce utility bills. In the late spring and early fall—and even in the summer in some areas—homeowners with ceiling fans can often get away with open windows and fans, which can cut down on cooling bills and also reduce wear and tear on the HVAC system. Over time, ceiling fans can pay for themselves by saving you money on electric bills and air conditioner repair and maintenance.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

The direction your ceiling fan spins helps create comfortable airflow in your home and can also help cut down on energy costs.

During summer, your ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise. This will push cooler air downward in a column and help lower your room’s air temperature. In the winter, set your ceiling fan to spin clockwise and at the lowest speed setting. This will pull cool air upwards, displacing the warm air that pools towards the top of your ceiling and bringing it down towards the floor.

Fans not turning on, wobbling, noisy motors, or faulty remote controls are common issues requiring repair.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.
