"WB Lightning is focused on customer service. The company provided good communication and responded very quickly to my inquiry for a quote. WB Lightning is a respected company, I had another electrical service provider tell me I made a good choice when I hired WB Lightning Rods."

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

"He said he was coming and he didn’t make the date. Said he got tied up with something else.  My wife said he was over booking. It seemed to be. He is trying to get his business off the ground. He finally showed up with a piece of equipment, I kind went down to a home improvement store and purchased the same thing and stuck it in myself. We have an electric box and I challenged him on that and he said I and get you the one from general electric which he did the next day or so. He said he was going to ship it to us and then I would call him and evidently he canceled that. He had gone and purchased what he wanted and put in the right thing. The installation was pretty simple and straight forward but it was the right product for the job so I’m happy I challenged him on that. He tried very desperately to do the right thing and to make the customer happy. He did perform the service and he did put the right thing in."

"It went very well, he is a licensed electrician and he changed all of my old s12 sockets to energy efficient sockets so that I could use my electronic devices and not blow circuits.  I was being charged each time I called in a help ticket.  So I called Mason Electrical Services and had him come out and take a look . He came out and took a look at the problem and gave me an estimate .and I was really satisfied on the price.  He arrived promptly on 8 March 2014 had everything he needed to work with, and completed the work it only took a couple of hours and the job was done.  In that time he installed a ceiling fan in my bedroom with a remote.  He didn't make a mess.  I would definitely recommend him to others needing electrical services in the future.

"the staff are very nice - before they even walked in, they laid down paper throughout the walk path of the house to keep everything clean. They were very careful in our home and courteous. Anthony is responsive and a really nice guy.

"My daughter has a town home on Kent Island and had no protection from the home warrenty program issued less that three month eariler.  The dishwasher stopped working a month after settlement and all she was told was it was an electrical problem.  I turned to Bay Life Electric and Vern from my Angies list search he was the best person I could have found for the job.  He explained what was wrong and how he planned to fix the problem."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

To power the system down, simply turn it off and cut it off from its electricity. That means removing the transformer from the wall plug and taking out the battery that usually sits within the control panel itself. That will disconnect it from power and essentially reset the entire alarm system.

Short circuits can cause fires, electrical burns, and electrocution, which can lead to serious injury or even death. That’s why it’s important to take preventative measures to prevent short circuits, like getting annual electrical maintenance and an electrical inspection every two to five years, depending on the age of your home.

Hiring an electrician to install a new ceiling fan may be the best course of action. Installing a ceiling fan requires basic electrical and mechanical knowledge. It also requires holding it up with one hand and in an awkward position, making the installation even more difficult. If you’re uncomfortable with these circumstances, your best bet is to hire a professional.

For most applications, you won’t need a neutral for 240V. There are certain codes and regulations that differ between areas so just because you technically may not need one in order for the device to function properly, it may still be a local requirement. Professionals in your area know the requirements, which is just another reason to hire one instead of taking on a project that is frankly not very DIY-friendly.

You can check if an electrician is licensed in New York by using the online license verification search tool offered by the New York State Education Department. The database is updated daily and gives you the option of searching by license number, contractor name, or the name of the business.
