"Excellent job; looks like a high end custom kitchen going from blond wood to sleek frosted white finish with additional cabinets to take storage space up to the ceiling. The hood is artistic and makes a statement. Custom craftmanship shows with the refacing of the island with darker gray laminate and the addition of glass cabinet doors. Simon Laurenco was very neat, precise, and professional. He worked on this project virtually solo for two whole weeks. Craig Newton came for the hood placement and was very skilledd as well and had some handy tools and gadgets. I am grateful to Adam Chandler, the consultant who did the initial visit and answered all our questions. Excellent service all around."

"Blackstone replaced our old shower and added needed grab bars, a relatively small project for them. Nevertheless, we received excellent service and support. When one problem with delivered materials was discovered they went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. The project manager was available and helpful throughout the process. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends and neighbors."

"They were very professional and completed the work that we requested of them - removal of the existing gutters; installment of new gutters with gutter guards and four new downspouts. I am very impressed with the work and they finished the job before the required contract period. We would recommend their services to friends and family!"

"I cannot say enough about this company!! The owner and his team provided exceptional product quality and wonderful service for refacing our kitchen and master bedroom cabinets. As usual, we interviewed 3 different refacing vendors: two larger names in the industry and then Peter’s company. The difference in pricing was nothing short of astounding as the bigger suppliers have to cover significant overhead. Pete’s business model is far more agile and it eliminates middlemen and the extra bricks and mortar large companies require. Therefore, Cabinet Restoration Company delivered exactly what we wanted because we worked directly with the Owner/Company President. He was extremely knowledgeable with a couple of decades of experience, and his guidance on selections was extremely valuable. Furthermore, Rob, the installer, is a master carpenter and cabinet maker with decades of experience under his belt. We chose a cherry shaker style with a honey glaze, and the compliments from friends and neighbors have been flowing. Our new cabinetry looks very expensive but for a very reasonable price! In fact, the bids we got just for the Kitchen were 1) $39,000, 2) $30,000 and then 3) $17,000. I carefully researched Pete’s background and referrals. He has gotten both industry and customer accolades for his product quality, delivery and service . If you want top of the line cabinet refacing done for an affordable price, by all means, call Pete! Tell your friends!"

"I must say after trying a couple different options on redoing my cabinets I chose Cabinet Restoration. I worked with Pete who was very very helpful and patient as he answered my questions and walked me thru the best option. The results are just stunning. The wear and tear is gone and a new set of knobs installed has brought them back to their former luster. Additionally they came in on target and on budget. Truly exceptional work."

"The bathroom projects turned out great. I was impressed with his knowledge and skill that went into the completed project. He let me know what would work and what wouldn't work. He was timely and explained what he needed to do so the job could be completed to my satisfaction. I would use the company again"

Closets questions, answered by experts

There are a few reasons custom closets are expensive: materials used, the luxury factor, and time to build. The people who can afford custom closets are those who can afford increased rates, and construction workers and contractors know this and charge accordingly. The time to build custom closets is substantial, especially if expensive material is being used or intricate details (like carved wood) are added to the project.

The time it takes to build a closet varies widely depending on the project's size, complexity, and level of customization. On average, construction can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks.

A simple reach-in closet might be completed in less than a day, while a more complex walk-in closet could take one to two days or more. A typical project often falls in the 2-to-5-day range. However, a large, highly customized walk-in closet that requires structural changes, like moving a load-bearing wall, will take significantly longer.

A professional contractor can provide the most accurate time estimate for your specific project. If you are planning a DIY build, it is best to budget additional time.

On average, building a custom or built-in closet costs around $2,100. However, the total price can range from as little as $500 for a simple DIY project to $6,000 or more for a large, high-end custom closet. Most projects typically fall between $1,500 and $5,000.

The final cost depends on several factors, including the closet's size, type, materials, and features. Here is a general cost breakdown by closet type:

  • Reach-in closet: $500 to $1,500

  • Walk-in closet: $750 to $5,000

  • Wardrobe: $2,000 to $6,000 or more

Choosing a prefabricated closet system is generally less expensive than a fully custom build. The scope of design and construction services will also significantly impact the price.

You may need a building permit to add a closet, depending on the size and kind of work required to install it. The most likely scenario requiring a permit involves changing the structure of the house and performing electrical work for closet lighting. A permit can cost between $100 and $450. If you’re installing a smaller reach-in closet, a permit may not be required, but always check with your local municipality and consult a closet designer or builder.

Bedrooms and living rooms generally cost the least to remodel. Of course, the project price will depend on what you're planning to do to the space and the cost of the materials you choose to incorporate. Prices are typically lower than those of other remodels because major plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work isn't often part of remodeling these rooms.
