"Mike and his team did a fantastic job restoring our wood deck. I found MJM Restorations to be responsive, helpful, professional and fair throughout the entire process from the initial estimate to job completion. There were multiple layers of paint of the deck which required a lot of work to remove. Mike communicated frequently on the progress of the work, including when an additional piece of equipment and extra labor hours would be required to finish the job properly. Mike and his team showed up on time and finished on schedule. He also answered many of my questions about the sealant and how to properly care for the wood deck in the future. I will definitely hire MJM in the future for any deck and fencing restoration needs I have. Highly recommend!"

"Excellent job cleaning house siding, front porch, sidewalk, driveway, basement steps, gutters, and windows in/out, including screens. Santos and teammate arrived timely, were friendly and courteous, and worked efficiently around the house to complete this job. They performed quality work on all portions of this large project. "Milton responded to my request for service within an hr and was ready to do the job the next day! He went above and beyond with ensuring my house was prestine. Milton really pays attention to details as he saw scuff marks on my doors as well as ensured windows were clean...he even cleaned my small porch! He left everything as it was and left nothing behind. His price was very reasonable and will definitely be hiring him again as well as referring him to my community 😁"

Sandblasting Services questions, answered by experts

Sandblasting refers to the process of cleaning a surface using compressed air and aggregate. Soda blasting is the gentlest type of this method, but it differs from sandblasting that uses mineral or other aggregate, since sodium bicarbonate breaks apart more easily than other forms of blast media and, therefore, cannot be reused.

Your pro will most likely bill you at an hourly rate of $50 to $80 per hour to sandblast a door due to its small size. This type of job won't take long, so if you have other surfaces that need cleaning, schedule those tasks at the same time to get your money's worth from your pro's visit.

Sand is a common sublayer for hardscape features like driveways, paver patios, and more. Most projects that involve sand require a 1-inch layer to promote evenness, drainage, and weight distribution. For further drainage, most projects have a 6-inch minimum layer of gravel beneath the sand.

Because these two systems have different applications, there is no definitive answer to which is better. When working with sturdy materials, sandblasting is cheaper and faster, but more delicate projects require soda blasting. Before choosing either option, consider your specific needs, particularly your ultimate goal (cleaning, removing rust, prepping for painting, etc.), the material, and your budget.

Soda-blasting systems are slightly more expensive than sandblasting systems. To soda blast, you’ll need to spend a few hundred dollars for a blast hose and nozzle, a compressed air supply, a blast generator, a moisture decontamination system, and sodium bicarbonate media, a recurring cost because the powder is not reusable. To start with sandblasting, you will need to spend upwards of $30 for a blast pot, a blast gun, an air compressor, and sandblasting media, many of which are recyclable—further reducing the cost. The total cost for either will depend on the size of the system.
