"I love my basement now! They removed all of the asbestos flooring, adhesive etc. and installed my new floor in 2 days. The employees were very respectful and worked efficiently. They had said 3 days but they hustled and did it in 2."

"Erik and his professional team replied to my request for services on Angi promptly. Erick came to provide an estimate the very next day. On the day of the work, the entire team arrived on time and immediately prepared the job site. The area was isolated before any asbestos removal started. Throughout the day, all work was prefessionaly done. An independent inspector arrived several hours later when the asbestos abatement was complete, and gave his approval of a successful job. Erik and his team were neat, friendly, skilled, and it was actually enjoyable to observe their teamwork and efficiency. The completed site was left perfectly clean. I give Erik and ACS 10 out of 5 stars."

"Daniel was great to work with. He called when he said he would. He showed up for the testing on time. Explained what he was doing. He did a very thorough check for moisture behind the walls and air samples where needed. He really showed that he knows what he is doing. If I ever need a mold inspection done again I ll be calling Rudd to do it."

"This company was on the list of companies registered with Montgomery County. After the initial phone call, I was able to setup an appointment to coincide with the Abatement company that removed the tiles. All went very smooth and Maxximus representative was present throughout the day and explained all that he was doing. Very satisfied customer."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

It is strongly advised not to touch or disturb asbestos-containing materials unless necessary. Asbestos fibers can be released into the air when the material is damaged or disturbed, posing serious health risks if inhaled. It is best to leave any handling of asbestos to trained professionals who can remove the asbestos safely.

Although the use of asbestos has declined since the 1980s, it remains in several different types of building construction materials for insulation and as a fire retardant. Typically, asbestos can be found in materials such as ceiling and floor tiles, heat-resistant fabrics and coatings, and roof shingles. You may also find asbestos in textured paint and patching compounds.

Typical methods for asbestos removal include encapsulation, enclosure, and complete removal.

Asbestos-containing materials are not easily affected by water and do not disintegrate or dissolve when exposed to it. However, porous materials can deteriorate due to water exposure, leading to the release of asbestos fibers into the air. The settling of asbestos fibers can also occur as water makes them heavy, which reduces the risk of airborne exposure, though future disturbance of the materials could cause risk. Wetting asbestos-containing materials does not constitute safe removal, and the proper handling and disposal of asbestos materials should be left to professionals.

Epoxying over asbestos tiles is generally considered a safe option when done correctly. Epoxy acts as a sealant, encapsulating the asbestos tiles and preventing the release of asbestos fibers into the air. The key is ensuring that the asbestos tiles are in good condition, firmly adhered to the substrate, and not damaged or deteriorating. This method is only appropriate for tiles that are undamaged and securely in place. If the asbestos tiles are already loose, damaged, or deteriorating, encapsulating them with epoxy may not be a sufficient solution, as it might not address the potential for ongoing asbestos exposure.
