"Joe, @ A-J Construction, went beyond his call of duty to go the extra mile to help someone in need of heat. His service was provided during the Joshua snow storm with temps well below freezing . I live in southern WV and I called 11 different contractors for a friend that lives in Elkridge, MD. Joe @ A-J was the first and only person to answer the call. Ruth, the lady the service was provided for, recently lost her husband to brain cancer and she is a breast cancer survivor also. The only heat Ruth had was with a space heater. Space heaters can either cause fires or asphyxiation with their use. Joe, in my thoughts, is a life saver and hero!"

"The work ended up great, although I didn't realize that they were coming from so far away so there was an additional fee.  They installed drywall in one room, and the end result was decent (B+).  They were very knowledgeable and helpful in answering my questions.  They did a good job communicating about the work."

"They called ahead to be sure appointment time was still good, and he arrived on time.  Was very knowledgeable and easy to work with.  I wanted a 17 yr old exhaust fan replaced in my bathroom and had pre-ordered 2 fans with descriptions that sounded like they would be a good fit and smaller size needed.  Well, I guess when this house was built, they just squeezed that exhaust fan in there, probably to save them alot of work.  So he explained to me that to install either one of the fans I had purchased would require some cutting into the ceiing and resulting drywall work, which I didn't want to get into.   But he suggested he could see if Home Depot had just the motor in the size I needed, and only replace the motor and eliminate any cutting into the ceiling.  Luckily I'm pretty close to a Home Depot, so it didn't take alot of time for him to get there and back, and had purchased a motor for just $16.   He installed that, and cleaned up the bathroom when he was done.  Now I can return the $50 exhaust fan that I purchased.  This little project had been on my wishlist for 4 years, and my husband wasn't in any hurry to get it done, so I was very happy to cross it off the list using this Big Deal promo.

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

Animals that dig holes in the yard at night include skunks and raccoons. Both animals are nocturnal, meaning they are most active at night and use that time to hunt or forage. Skunks will dig small holes to find insects, while raccoons use their strong front legs to pull up chunks of sod and search for food underneath.

According to the Internet Center for Wildlife Damage Management, no frightening devices are proven effective for squirrel control. This is likely because the squirrels quickly become habituated to the noises. However, strobe lights show some promise, so motion-activated lighting could be an option worth considering as part of your integrated pest management strategy.

Armadillos are not considered friendly animals. They are solitary and tend to avoid human interaction. While not aggressive, they can be shy and reclusive, often scurrying away when approached. Armadillos may carry diseases, so handling them is not advised.

Using chemicals with harsh odors is a natural way to repel bears. While the animal’s strong sense of smell is an asset in the animal kingdom, it’s a weakness here. Simply place bleach or ammonia in a bucket and leave it outside day or night. Ironically, bears also dislike the smell of pine, so you can use pine oil or a pine-based cleaning agent. Avoid using cleaning products with fruit or citrus smells, however.

The primary attractant for moles is food. With a powerful sense of smell, they seek out grubs, earthworms, ants, and other insects in the soil. Other factors can also draw them in, such as moist, loose soil which makes tunneling easier, so an overwatered lawn can be an invitation. Additionally, male moles may enter your yard to expand their territory or find a mate, and if a neighbor has a mole problem, it's possible for them to tunnel over to your property.
