"Dietrich Land Care took care of our extremely messy yard and did an excellent job. The process was easy and communication was prompt and very clear. They did everything requested, made helpful suggestions, kept us in the loop throughout, and finished everything in record time. The entire team was very professional. Highly recommended."

"Mark's office responded to my Sunday email the same day and promptly scheduled an appointment. Mark came out to look at the layout of the backyard and the way water flows through the yard. We discussed solutions for the problem area around the back sliding door and the heat pump unit. I felt that Mark gave the project a lot of consideration and came up with a solution that not only took care of the water drainage problem but was also enhanced the look of the yard."

"We are so grateful for your service, prompt and reliable. The entire crew who came out to work on our sewer line repair was so kind and extremely knowledgeable. When I had a follow up question, they came right back out to check the work, and went above and beyond to make sure my concerns were handled. I highly recommend your company. From our very first emergency call to the completion of the job, to the grass that is already growing to cover the big dig! Thank you for making a very difficult situation as calm and easy as possible. Jenn & Dave Peter, Columbia MD."

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

A boundary survey measures the boundary lines of the property, only the length of each property line and their locations. A land survey includes a more in-depth measurement of the property, including the heights and depths of the terrain measured by a topographic survey. A boundary survey is typically the most cost-effective method for marking and measuring property lines.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

A land survey defines and records the physical aspects of a property, including its boundaries, dimensions, easements, features, and sometimes topographical information. In contrast, a land appraisal determines the property's monetary value. While an appraiser will often consult a land survey to understand the property's physical specifications, the survey itself does not determine the land's value.

Land surveys don’t technically expire. They do serve as a point of reference and a snapshot of your property, though, so as soon as you make changes to your property (and even if your neighbor makes certain changes to theirs), your existing land survey becomes inaccurate, and a new one must be done. Even if you don’t make any changes to your property, many states only guarantee the accuracy of a land survey for five to ten years.

You will find a collection of licensed land surveyors in your area. Your real estate agent or construction manager may also be able to recommend a trusted professional. When speaking with prospective pros in your area, ask the land surveyor if they are licensed in the state, have liability insurance, and can quote you a fee before starting.
