Customers say: Quality work

"Lightning damaged several of the electronics in our house. I scheduled for an electrician to come out today and Dave was here, on time. He is professional and friendly...and he like dogs! Dave quickly and efficiently diagnosed each problem and was able to repair some items and give us direction for non-electrical repairs, such as HVAC and plumbing. Next time we need an electrical service, I guarantee it will be Gunther’s Electric!"

"Klaus moved our wired electric panel and re-wired the entire kitchen. He added amazing lighting including recessed lighting, under counter lighting and toe kick lighting. He installed relocated electrical receptacles for the dishwasher, garbage disposal and water pump. Did beautiful finish work. Very good at communicating and saying yes when I asked for more. Pricing very reasonable. Very dependable and amicable. Highly recommended."

"Mark from Duke's Electrical Services was recommended by a friend in the home improvement business whose referrals have always been A+, and Mark certainly lived up to that reputation. Mark and his son were professional, punctual, and communicative. They texted before arriving and showed up exactly on time. Mark performed a thorough electrical inspection, took photos, and reviewed everything with me so I understood the condition of our system. I also asked about a few smaller projects, including a dock light switch and a deck remote-control switch that weren't working. Mark followed through on his promise to return, contacted me within a week, and scheduled the repairs. During that visit, I added two more switch replacements, and they completed all three jobs in under an hour. What impressed me most was their attention to detail. After finishing, they vacuumed the work area. As someone who appreciates cleanliness, that meant a lot. Professional, efficient, cleanliness, very rare find."

"On August 2025 I had two Hunter ceiling fans installed by Mike and was very pleased with the results. The installations were done efficiently and professionally, with both fans mounted in the second-floor loft and bedroom with 8’ ceilings. Communication was clear throughout the process, and he made sure everything was working perfectly, including the wall controls for each fan. I highly recommend their services for anyone needing reliable and quality electrical work."

"Used this company previously and again it was a pleasure from beginning to end. I would give him 10 Stars if I could. Referred William to a close friend of mine and she was just as pleased. We both sleep better during our bad Florida thunderstorms. A friend of mine lost their home due to lightning. They got out just in time couldn’t save anything but their lives barely. I urge all to install lightning rods."

Customers say: True professional

"Very professional and efficient. Arrived timely, very knowledgeable, and efficiently repaired appliance. Our General Electric large refrigerator was not properly cooling. Found door leakage, ordered the part, and returned to replace the seal. No markup on the part, no added time to repair - entire transaction was very fair. Could not ask for a better experience."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

For most applications, you won’t need a neutral for 240V. There are certain codes and regulations that differ between areas so just because you technically may not need one in order for the device to function properly, it may still be a local requirement. Professionals in your area know the requirements, which is just another reason to hire one instead of taking on a project that is frankly not very DIY-friendly.

Aluminum wiring can pose a significant fire risk because it tends to expand, contract, and overheat, leading to failing connections and splices. If your home has aluminum wiring, it doesn't always require a complete replacement, but you must take safety precautions. The first step is to hire a licensed electrician to conduct a thorough inspection. Based on their findings, you have several options:

  • Full Replacement: The safest but most expensive solution is to replace all aluminum wiring with copper.

  • Copper Pigtailing: A more budget-friendly option, suitable for certain homes, involves adding a short section of copper wire to the end of each aluminum wire at connection points.

  • Other Safety Upgrades: Your electrician may also recommend installing aluminum-compatible outlets and applying an anti-oxidant paste to connections to prevent corrosion.

Consulting a professional will help you determine the best course of action to ensure your home's wiring meets current safety standards.

It wouldn’t be abnormal to view all wiring as simply wiring, but wiring has different gauges and can handle different loads. When you’re wiring for 240V, you need wire that is rated at least 240V, but honestly it’s better to spend a little more and just buy 300V wiring. This ensures a margin of safety in case the wiring gets overloaded.

In the United States, home outlets support a standard 15 amps, but you can upgrade per outlet if necessary. Most single-family residential homes have a maximum overall amp rating, usually 100 to 200 amps. Very old houses may have less than 100 amps, but that’s rare. Large homes often come with amp services above 200 amps to support modern lifestyles.

You can add an electrical outlet outside by sending a wire through the wall from an existing interior outlet. Without having to open up walls, you can thread a new electrical cable from the existing outlet through the wall and to the exterior. You’ll need to cut a hole in the siding to place your new outlet. Ensure that your outdoor outlet is a GFCI outlet (ground fault circuit interrupter outlet) per the National Electrical Code. It’s best to hire an electrician to add an outdoor outlet unless you have previous electrical experience.
