"Mr. Thomas, Dwight and crew performed the level 2 chimney inspection (only/no sweep requested) and repaired the brick/masonry of the chimney, including repacing the flue liner and repair of the chimney box. They provided literature, kept me highly informed of status, arrival, appointments, and work progress. They also completed a beautiful job on my neighbor's chimney rebuild/replace. The work looks really great and it is apparent that Mr. Thomas, Dwight, and the masonry crew take pride in their workmanship and quality. The job was completed within 2 days and so far, everything is looks fantastic. Waiting for a cool day to crank up the fireplace. They also provided a professional lamination card and pen for reminders of next year's chimney sweep. I only slightly hit the value as I would have loved the inspection price to be part of the repair and the receipt, but overall, great experience, great A+ rating on BBB and both licensed and bonded. Obtained via Angi/home advisor"

"Frustrated that I wasn't getting a consistent assessment from a chimney service person, I ended up getting estimates from five chimney companies, plus an evaluation from a home inspector prior to finally choosing 301-Chimney. I chose Stefan and his company because he was really knowledgeable about flue replacements and did not advocate for excessive and unnecessary rebuild of my chimney, (House is 45 years old, and although builder grade, it did not require a chimney rebuild, as confirmed by house inspector/3rd party opinion.) Stefan did the evaluation and estimate. He is personable and knowledgeable, not pushy. His company uses quality products and hand parges the smoke chamber, and meticulous attention is paid to tuckpointing. Stefan loves his job and his industry and chooses people to work with him that are likewise engaged as shown by the team he sent for the job, lead by Chepe. Such a nice guy! Worksite was clean and protected every day.. Chepe knew that I was interested in the work product all the way up on the chimney, so he took pictures for me! I appreciated that! Great work by the company at a very reasonable price, and the work had the best and strongest warranty."

Customers say: True professional

"I was contacted the same day I submitted my inquiry and had a scheduled appointment with in 24 hours. Finest Chimney contacted me 25 minutes before they arrived and they were exactly on time. Cleaning took about 20 minutes and they were very thorough and professional. They even gave me some feed back about future roof/chimney repairs. I will definitely call Finest Chimney Sweep for our future needs."

"The company person I spoke with was very pleasant and professional. The technician was the same. Very knowledgeable about what he was doing. I asked questions since this was the first time I had hired a company that did chimney sweeping and cleaning the fireplace was one of their advertised jobs. I was very pleased with the work, and I would hire them again. Also, I would recommend them to others."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

Smoke smell and odors typically will not go away completely on their own, especially once the particles have penetrated porous materials like walls, floors, ceilings, and furniture. While airing out affected items can help the smell subside over time, it often lingers for months or even years. To effectively remove stubborn smoke odors, you should combine several methods. Start with a thorough deep cleaning and deodorizing using substances like baking soda or activated charcoal. Air purifiers can also help capture airborne particles. In severe cases, you may need to replace heavily damaged materials. If the smell persists after repeated treatments, consider hiring a professional smoke damage restoration company for assistance.

Yes, most homeowners insurance policies cover fire damage and restoration, provided the fire was not set intentionally or caused by negligence. Accidental fires, such as those from electrical issues, cooking, or gas, are typically covered. Your policy will usually cover emergency services like roof tarping, the full cost of remediation and rebuilding, and may also cover alternative housing while your home is being restored. You will be responsible for paying your policy's deductible. It is important to check your policy details to see how coverage is calculated—it may be for the full replacement cost of damaged items or the actual cash value, which accounts for depreciation. To expedite your claim, contact your insurance company immediately and have all necessary documentation ready.

Yes, many providers offer 24/7 emergency repair services to prevent inventory loss.

In many cases, homeowners insurance covers smoke damage remediation, but coverage depends on the cause of the damage and the specifics of your policy. Typically, damage from a house fire, wildfire, or even a fire in a neighboring home is covered. However, damage from cigarette smoke is generally not covered.

Before filing a claim, review your policy to understand what is covered, such as restoration costs, replacement of damaged items, and temporary relocation. It's crucial to document all damage thoroughly, including to furniture and personal belongings. Contact your insurance provider promptly to start the claim process and get an evaluation before hiring professionals. Your insurer may also provide a list of approved smoke remediation companies to streamline the process.

Smoke can be tricky to remove from your home, especially after a fire. The best way to eliminate the smell is to open the windows to increase ventilation and air circulation in your house. Then, use white vinegar to wipe down walls, furniture, and floors. Try steam-cleaning carpet and other upholstered items to remove the smell of smoke.
