Small jobs welcome

"My work consisted of repairs to the exterior of the house.John showed up with Doug (Joyce wasn't feeling well) on time. They promptly began their jobs. When they stumbled across something that they thought should be brought to my attention, they came and got me.One such incident was ant infestation in the wood (thankfully they weren't termites) John asked for some bug spray and promptly took care of the problem. Small things like this are big in my book. Will I use them again? I've already asked John to provide me with a quote for some preventive work that I'd like done, replacing some wood with pvc board. Excellent work, job well done."

"I feel lukewarm about the experience. He did not finish everything that I asked him to.  I had given him a list before hand, including caulking.  The grout he put in was actually a different color and I had matching grout that he could have used instead.  He did the front corner of the bath, but did not do the rear corner.  I had cabinets that weren't closing properly, and he skipped one of them. At the end he said he did everything, but he missed some things."

"No one showed up on the proposed date to perform the work. I received a call about a week later to set up an appointment for what I thought had already been scheduled for the week prior. Additionally, my requests for pictures of the contractor's work were not answered. On a positive note, per my request, the contractor provided an estimate for mulching which was not included as a part of the Angie's List deal."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

When installing new steel doors, it’s smart to do other projects simultaneously. This can lower costs, limit mess, and help your home look and function better. For example, replacing a damaged doorframe is wise when planning door installations.

Also consider changing broken or worn-out locks, repairing or replacing weather stripping, and updating handles. Painting, staining, or upgrading the trim around the door can also improve energy efficiency, security, and aesthetics.

Hanging wallpaper may seem simple, but in practice it requires significant planning and finesse to make it look professional. To start, you need to get an even application of wallpaper paste across all of your wallpaper, which requires experience and large pasting tables to get right. You also need to plan out your design and match it exactly so that you don’t have imperfections in the finished product. It’s often better to hire a professional wallpaper hanger who can get the job done properly for a clean, smooth finish.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

Options include bricks, natural stone, and concrete blocks. Choose based on durability, aesthetics, and budget.

Putting up new wallpaper tends to take one to two days, depending on the size of the area, whether old paper needs to be removed, and if there is any damage to walls that needs to be smoothed over or fixed.
