"George's painting, inc was responsive and professional from start to finish. The project entailed wallpaper removal from 2.5 bathrooms and kitchen, repainting those rooms; installing a tile backsplash and vinyl tile floor in the kitchen; replacing the kitchen countertop; repairing a cabinet; repairing drywall and painting the ceiling in the master bedroom. The owner came out to do the estimate himself. He was accommodating when I wanted to expand the scope of the initial project and came out a second time to give me an updated estimate. He was easy to reach via cell or email. The estimate was more than fair. His crew completed the job in three days. The crew was polite, professional, and did a good job cleaning up at the end of each work day. I highly recommend this company and would use them again."

"FDC Painting worked with us to ensure that they understood our needs (two in home visits to make sure they had it right). They scheduled us promptly after signing the contract. The team showed up on time and quickly worked through the project. They moved furniture and ensured the floors and furnishings were covered and well protected. Once walls were stripped and repaired, they used quality Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams paints. The house was kept clean and tidy. After the job was completed the owner of FDC followed up to make sure we were happy with his work and to ensure there was nothing else required from him or his team. Results of the job were very good. We would recommend FDC and use them again."

"It was the smoothest paint job that I have ever experienced and will  no doubt recommend Robert and his crew whenever the opportunity arises. I plan to have my cabinets redone and the basement painted and will use Competitive Painters."

"I hired Mega Kitchen and Bath to remodel my kitchen and bathroom. The process started with the Project Manager, Ibrahim, coming and discussing what I wanted. He gave a detailed account to Katherine, the Designer. Her design gave me everything I needed- plenty of storage in the kitchen. My budget was small, but they stayed on budget and provided quality and stylish materials-kitchen cabinets, backsplash, countertops, sink & flooring. Bathroom tub, tile surround, flooring and accessories. Grober, Johnny and the tile guy are master craftsmen. They did an excellent job, meeting every repair challenge and putting up with me. I am very happy with this company. Hope to work with them again."

"I don't know when I have ever used a painting crew as talented as these men were. We live in a vintage 1911 house that had many issues on the walls. Lots of cracks and paint problems. They came and fixed every issue and now we live in a museum. Thank you Blue Sky Home Services for doing such a 5-star job!"

"Excellent.  Rene, the owner,  was punctual from the first visit through the last.  He understood the work that needed to be done - both prepping the house for painting and repairing some rotted out places. He promptly provided a somewhat high estimate.  We liked him and wanted to work with him, but received a few other lower estimates.  After talking to him, he agreed to do the job for the price we suggested.  They started work exactly when they said they would.  Manuel worked from dawn to dusk with a short break for lunch for three weeks with help from some other workers when necessary.  He started the day with a huge smile, and ended by cleaning up thoroughly after each day's work.  He is a very hard worker.  He did a beautiful job of preparing the house before painting.  The repair work (not sure who on the team did the carpentry work) was also done beautifully.  A team of ~7 painters completed the paint job just before the cold weather hit.  The painting is very neat and well done.  Aside from a few trodden-upon bushes, there was no damage to anything.  The house looks beautiful.  We couldn't be happier with their work and they were a pleasure to work with.  We will definitely hire them again."

"Gerardo the boss was very responsive, punctual and communicative. His men were very professional and painted the rooms with minimal mess . He organized a lady from the paint company to discuss colors with me and then they Gerado bought all of the paint. This was the first time that i used this company and they were excellent. Would recommend this company to anyone looking for interior painting in the Kentlands/Gaithersburg area.

"My house was a mess with 3 kids and a husband, it's hard to find time to clean. Greenhouse Cleaning did the JOB!  They were very professional and thorough.  My kitchen looks like no kids ever existed and my house was dust free.  The kids bathroom was a horror! Greenhouse made all of the bathrooms look brand new, down to the baseboards.  My hardwood floors and carpet looks amazing.

My husband is pleased and my kids didn't recognize the house because it was so clean.  I would definitely recommend and use Greenhouse Cleaning again.

Thanks Greenhouse for making our house clean again!"

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Having dated, peeling, or otherwise damaged wallpaper can decrease the value of your property, so removing that before listing your house is nearly always a good idea; however, since wallpaper tends to be a personal style choice, potential buyers may or may not love your aesthetic as much as you do.

Love the look of wallpaper but want to consider property value as well? Stick with something that is easy to change. If you are thinking of selling soon, make sure your wallpaper hanging is on-point and looks professional with no crooked seams, evenly matched patterns, and minimal bubbling or other imperfections.

When installing new steel doors, it’s smart to do other projects simultaneously. This can lower costs, limit mess, and help your home look and function better. For example, replacing a damaged doorframe is wise when planning door installations.

Also consider changing broken or worn-out locks, repairing or replacing weather stripping, and updating handles. Painting, staining, or upgrading the trim around the door can also improve energy efficiency, security, and aesthetics.

Yes, but professional services ensure secure installation, accurate leveling, and protection against wall damage, especially for heavy or valuable items.

While some people are confident in their ability to replace concrete by drilling out the broken pieces and replacing them with bagged concrete, it’s possible to run into snags that make hiring a professional worth it. Trying to level concrete slabs can require special equipment, which can be pricey to rent and tough to operate. It's also crucial to contact your town's municipal office to ensure you are allowed to take on the project without a permit.

Wallpaper lasts an average of around 15 years, but there is some variance. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.
