"When I called him initially, no one picked up, and no one responded to my message. I eventually got in touch with him and wanted to get some information on the awning installation process. He just coldly told me to go to the website and put in the information there. After doing so, I still never heard from him. I then called him yet again and this time he told me he needed a lot more information than what I put on there. It seemed like he didn't want to be helpful, so I just left him alone. "

"We would probably use this company again, even though we did have one minor incident. The estimator assured us that the opening for our door would be framed in to the correct size as the door coming out was larger than the one going in. When the installers arrived and started working on the opening in question, it was not initially framed in to our satisfaction. It took calls to the office and discussions with the installation managers, and the crew chief coming from a separate job site 40 miles away to achieve the result we were promised. They did fulfill their promises, but we had to intervene to get satisfaction. The final results are good, we have had no problems with either the windows or doors in the 3 months that they have been in. We would consider them again to do the remaining windows in our home."

"This review is long overdue.  Dave Bennington and his crew (especially project manager John) did a top notch job on our deck/enclosed sun porch project.  Dave was extremely responsive, competitive on price and prompt.  Even in the extreme heat of this past summer, he had his guys get as much done before the day got too hot to try to stay on schedule.  I am happy to speak with anyone who is thinking about hiring Bennington Builders and would not hesitate to hire them on a future project.  My wife and I are very particular and Dave expertly dealt with all our requests.

Awnings questions, answered by experts

Metal awnings are durable, low-maintenance, and provide shade and weather protection.

Regular cleaning, inspecting for wear, and retracting during storms extend its lifespan.

Yes, you can convert a fabric awning to a metal one. You just need to swap the fabric for metal panels, which are more durable and weather-resistant. However, the support frame will probably need reinforcement to handle the added weight. You should consult a pro to address any structural concerns.

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.

Stainless steel and copper are the most durable and will probably last the longest, especially when you compare them to fabric awnings. Steel is the most popular if your budget isn’t a top priority, but some people prefer copper awnings over steel because they are lighter, which makes them easier to install. Aluminum offers a more budget-friendly metal awning option that is still attractive and offers some durability, especially compared to fabric.
