"Anderson and his crew were very meticulous with great attention to detail. The exterior staining was a difficult project as my home had not been stained in many years and many shingles had to be replaced. His shingling crew did a fantastic job and the house looks awesome. "All team members (3-5 per day) were on time, respectful of my property, did excellent work, and the cleanup was exactly what I expected. The price was somewhat higher than other companies, but it was important to me to have the work done reasonably quickly, so the team approach was definitely worth it. "The team tackled a tough job of a badly deteriorating deck floor and railing. It took several days of sanding to get to a level and smooth surface ready for staining. In addition, they did window trim, fixed pulpy garage door and widow sill areas, power washed house and deck and painting a portion of siding that was peeling. Overall, a good deal of work done after a great prep job."

However, staining a deck is a manageable task for most homeowners, and doing the job yourself can save money. Just keep in mind that DIY staining is a long process requiring physical strain, so it may not be the best option for everyone.

Stains penetrate wood best when it's cool and dry, so you want to avoid moisture. If the wood is wet upon application, or if it rains before the stain dries, the water will soak into the wood and displace the staining solution. This leads to a flaky and blotchy look, which is the opposite of a sumptuous even coat. Once the stain has fully cured, after about 3 days, rain shouldn’t cause you any problems.
