"The gentleman who showed up was prompt and very courteous, but unfortunately that was the only positive thing I can say.He was here for 40 minutes, charged me 200 dollars and told me he couldnâ t fix it in my garage, because the oil was sludge and he may or may not be able to fix it, but he would have to take it back to the shop and it would cost me 80 dollars an hour to try to fix it.When I gave him a check for his time and asked for a receipt, he looked at me like I was asking for a kidney, and wrote something down on apiece of notebook paper, which was supposed to be a receipt.It was not an invoice with the company name or any reference to their business license.I later received an explanation from somebody in the office, that they would send me an invoice for the work done.I have never had any contractor not present a proper business receipt to me when I have given them a check, prior to this."

In some situations, yes. Never try to put biofuel into any home generator without checking the specifics first. If a generator has the ability to run on diesel, it can also run pure biofuel (the clear kind made from seed oils, for example). But if you are using biofuel made from animal fats or vegetable oils, the generator will need significant modifications before it can handle a sludgier type of biofuel.

It’s usually better to repair your generator if it isn’t working properly, as it will typically be much more affordable and should yield similar results. Generator repairs cost around $300 on average, while installing a new whole-house generator costs around $5,000 on average. The only exception is if you know your generator is reaching the end of its useful life, usually between 30 and 40 years.
