Neary Construction is fully licensed and insured and has over 30 years of experience in the carpentry and building field and has been serving the Greater Boston area for over 15 years. Liam Neary, owner of Neary Construction, began his career building and remodeling Irish pubs across the United States from Boston to San Diego. He also did custom work such as furniture making and cabinetry. Neary Construction has expanded to home building, home additions, home renovations and all types of construction services for both residential and commercial project needs. Neary Construction provides you with quality craftsmanship and strong customer support. "I reached out to Liam to to possibly hire him to remodel two bathrooms for me. He came over to look at them and sent me an estimate. There were a few items we had discussed that were wrong on the estimate, and there were also a few new (minor) items we hadn’t discussed I wanted to add into scope, so I set up a follow up phone call with Liam. While on the phone with Liam, I had asked if he was licensed as a Construction Supervisor, which I read on Mass.gov was a requirement for my project scope. Liam said he was and when I asked for him to provide his license # when he sends me the revised estimate, he agreed to do so. (For context behind my request, Mass.gov had only showed his HIC license but not a CS license, and the phone rep I had spoken with also confirmed he was not licensed a CS. But I wanted to give Liam the benefit of the doubt…perhaps the license was not listed under his name, but maybe a partner name). The morning after our phone convo, I received this text from Liam: “Good morning, After speaking with you yesterday morning I've decided I do not want to do the project for you, I wish you all the best and finding another contractor. But I'm clearly not interested.” Huh? What the heck is this about? Since Liam didn’t give me the reason why he “clearly wasn’t interested” and when I responded to ask, I found he had blocked me from contacting him. I strongly caution anyone considering Liam to hire. This experience leaves me to believe he is not an honest, trustworthy, or legally qualified professional. He most surely does not have the CS license he claimed he has and was forced to bail on the project since he knew he couldn’t back up that claim with a license #. Liam evidently had no respect for me as a person. If he did he would have given me the common courtesy of the reason for his sudden loss of interest (or leave me the ability to respond to him to ask). I feel I dodged a bullet by doing some basic due diligence before hiring him (as I have done for every contractor I have hired for my projects in my 20+ years of owning a a home.) I strongly suggest that you think twice before contacting Liam for work to be done. Is this how YOU want to be treated? Is this someone you want to entrust your time and hard earned money to?"

"Newbridge Contracting did an excellent job. Tiles look fabulous and they even put a sealer in a section of our foundation and floor that has leaked in the past. Had a few very heavy rains and no problem! They also fixed tiles in the shower, small job but very needed. Excellent work."

Lancaster Home Remodeling specializes In Residential Remodeling and Additions. Whether you are remodeling One Room Or Your Whole House, we are committed to Providing Excellent Service and Fine Craftsmanship To Each Of Our Clients. At this time, we are booking projects for Summer/Fall 2024.

"When we decided to finish the large basement of our ranch-style home, Lancaster Home Remodeling was on our list of businesses to consider. Upon our contacting John and Kim, we secured an appointment in the near future for John to go through our basement with our architect after he finished up work for the day on his then-current project. At this initial appointment, John asked detailed questions, making sure that he understood everything about the project which our architect had planned. John and Kim were clear that they would not be able to start construction for several months because of John’s current project’s timeline. However, the work in our basement began in very close proximity to their original estimate of when they expected that it would. When construction began, John worked diligently and methodically. Everything he did —from insulation and framing, to boxing out for pipes, to installing subfloor and prepping for flooring and blue board installation —seemed to take as long as it needed to in order to be done right; then he moved on. He kept us informed of the process as he went along, and was consistently on the job when he said he would be. The other specialists he hired to do other aspects — electrical, plumbing, plaster and paint, and tile for a bathroom, worked quickly, and to date it appears they have done an excellent job. He introduced us to businesses in the area which offered a customer friendly experience in terms of selecting tiles, paint, and bathroom fixtures. And where he offered advice in these areas, he understood that every homeowner has their own style and preferences, and directed his his counsel towards brands that would offer diverse selection and high quality. Personally, after numerous conversations with them, we found both John and Kim to be affable and people-friendly. John was always happy to explain what he would be doing next, and why he did what he did in terms of his construction techniques. Our experience has left us far more than satisfied with our experience with Lancaster Home Improvement, and shows that John and Kim run their business with professionalism, expertise, and a true pride in the work which they do. We unreservedly recommend them for your own project, and will continue to work with them as our own needs arise."

Storm shelter services FAQs

One starting point to find a local home builder is to collect suggestions from friends and neighbors. However, it’s still wise to do some more research before you hire a builder. Read reviews to supplement any word-of-mouth recommendations. Check sources like Angi that have standards and criteria in place to screen the pros it lists can also help you find more reputable local home builders.

The cost to remodel a basement is between $12,100 and $33,400 for the average homeowner. The price you pay can be as little as $3,500 or as much as $50,200, depending on the size and condition of your basement and the type of remodel you're doing.

If you're doing a simple project like adding a home office to your basement, you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $3,000. However, if you're adding a bathroom, which is an extensive project, you can expect to pay between $6,600 to $16,500.

Yes, most states require home remodeling contractors to be licensed, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed home remodeling contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

The average cost to enclose a patio to create a sunroom is around $5,000, and prices generally range from $3,000 up to $10,000. The price you pay will depend on the state of your patio and whether it needs repairs or additional structural support, the quality of the materials you choose, the size of your patio, and whether you plan to run utilities into and finish the sunroom. The price for a fully finished patio enclosure could run up to around $20,000, while you might pay just $2,500 for a screened-in porch.

The cost to build a detached garage for two cars costs about $26,400 on average. Prices range from $19,200 to $33,600, depending on your location, the garage size, height, materials, and site prep required. Additional cost factors include any plumbing, electrical wiring, and insulation. If you need to build a concrete foundation for a new detached garage, you can expect to pay $1,000 to $8,600 for this essential addition.
