"After completing our amazing screened in sun porch (which we spend all our time in now), we hired James and Chris Finn to do all 3 of our bathrooms! They are fantastic. Kept me updated and involved every step of the way and continued to help with other things around the house. Quality beautiful and affordable bathrooms from top to bottom! We will next use these guys to redo our decks!"

"I had a great experience with Jose. He didn’t just paint the walls but got rid of all the imperfections and didn’t multiple coats of paint. The walls look brand new. Showed up on time and didn’t leave the job until the project was completed. I will defiantly be hiring him again."

"They came at 7:30 in the morning and did three rooms and a hall painted a ceiling and weâ re out of my house and cleaned up by 5:30 that same day so it was the fastest most meticulous painting. I have seen the rooms look great they painted the front and back doors as well cleaned up everything moved everything back into place and I would highly recommend them. They did a fantastic job."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Porcelain and ceramic tiles are made from clay, but porcelain tiles are fired in a kiln at a higher temperature. This makes them more durable, but it also means porcelain is more expensive than ceramic at $3 to $5 more per square foot.

Even with the higher price point, many people choose porcelain over ceramic because there are more color and design options.

Grout and caulk are commonly used together, especially in bathrooms. Grout goes between the tiles and keeps them sturdy and in place on the walls or floor. Caulk goes in corners or where two different materials meet (like where the bathtub meets the tile) to create a waterproof seal. However, they are not interchangeable—you shouldn't use caulk to adhere tile and shouldn’t use mortar if you need a waterproof seal.

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.

The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.
