Small jobs welcome

"We've had him work for us twice now, he's installed windows and doors, and I would recommend him. Prompt, professional, did what he said he would do, and cleaned up well. Totally 100% pleased with the experience."

"The windows were manufactured earlier than we expected and we were promptly contacted about installation. Although we were told the installation was scheduled for two days, the four man crew that arrived was able to finish in a single day! Each window was installed with the same consistency in quality and efficiency. Furthermore, the crew did an excellent job protecting our floors and furnishings in every room. When it comes to evaluating the installation crew, we couldn't be happier. Regarding price, we probably paid more than we should, but that's on us. We advise getting several other quotes first and then get Castle's quote. This will definitely help in your negotiating. The windows have definitely helped to eliminate draftiness in our home and helped to maintain a consistent temperature."

"They arrived on time,  were professional and answered a lot of question.  It took about three hours and two people came to do this.  They left the area mostly clean.  They did leave some stickers on the windows that I had to pull off.  I would tell friends and family that they should research the price on windows to make sure they are not over paying."

"

Well I have never had a better experience with a contractor.

I found Browdowski through Angie's list as I was looking to replace my colonials roof. I got quote from a couple other companies. I emailed the Browdowski to come out and do an estimate. I think I got a return call back within an hour. At this time, I spoke with Dave the owner and we agreed at a convenient time for him to come up and check out the scope of work. At the agreed upon time Dave showed up exactly on time and proceeded to do something no other estimator had done yet. He actually got up on the roof. He spent 5 to 10 minutes up there and reveled a couple things I didn't know (and neither did the other estimators.) He informed me I three layers of shingles in the back of my house. Within 5-10 minutes after he had his measurements he came back from his truck with a printed estimate.  So far so good.

I contacted Dave a few days later and we agreed on a price and when they could start. He informed me that he would put me on the schedule and it looked like 9 weeks from now. Most people would not have liked that, but I looked it as a positive. "They are busy, they must do good work and are in demand." Nine weeks come and go.
The day after Memorial day at 8am an armada of trucks and workers show up and they get to work. I also liked that I didn't have to go find a dumpster as they took care of it. Day one (and it was hot and humid) they stripped a majority of the roof and already were installing the new shingles. As I returned from work that day I was blown away by how clean my property was. These guys take care of the worksite. Day two more of the same. I am impressed with Dave's crew they are all nice guys and hard workers. Dave is pretty much on the roof the whole time. Dave is in contact with me via text as to where they are at, and took pics of some rotted wood I had. The roof is pretty much done on day two except some final touches and one small area. Again, I return from work and impressed with the work and cleanup.

Day three as they finish up and we settle up I tell Dave how impressed I was with his team and the work they did. The roof looks great and as I got home later in the day it looked like they were not even there minus the new roof. I have walked the area around the house a few times and have yet to find a stray nail.

In my own business I deal with contractors on a daily basis and there are good ones and really bad ones. Browdowski is a really, really good one and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.
I could not ask more out of a home improvement business transaction. They were always in communication, showed up when they said they would, did excellent work, were professional and treated your home with respect.

Congrats on your business Dave you built a good one.

Regards,
David Rosso"

"Vista started this job 9/17. From the beginning we were told by the salesman Eric and project manager Keith that the job would be finished to our satisfaction, all our concerns would be addressed. The roofing went well, we are pleased. The siding was a bigger job than they seemed prepared for. They removed wood siding and replaced rotten plywood. The siding looked fine except for an area in the front of our home which is vertically uneven. Holding a straight edge to the siding we have a one inch gap in the vertical level which was not properly prepared. Some our window frames are horrible. One of them has nails driven right in the center of the frame, others have gapping joints and one is wavy. They replaced our perfectly fine topped gutter with a 'top of the line' gutter which isn't topped so is now full of leaves. We live in the woods what were they thinking? At the signing of this contract our salesman Eric said he would do some porch screen framing and stain our new front door. He wanted payment of $600 stating this was his side job. After many, many phone calls, most being ignored, we have gotten no where. Brian Rudd finally came out and told us these problems would be corrected. Last we heard from him was 11/17. He emailed that the siding crew would be out that week to correct window trim. We never heard from or saw any of them again. They never installed the stove vent, stained the front door or corrected our siding issues. I've waited for spring thinking I would hear from them. Too bad, things started out well. Not a good company."

"We purchased a Big Deal and Tom came out to assess our barn, even though it wasn't a post and beam barn.   He gave a thorough review of our barn and pointed out areas that needed work.   Tom and Brad were very easy to work with and were always quick to respond to any questions.   They provided an estimate within a day, and even with a full summer schedule, they were on target for the estimated start date and finish time.   We felt very confident in their work and would use them again.

Window Shutters questions, answered by experts

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.
