"Bob was great to work with. Very prompt in responding and getting information to me. I purchased shades to install on our skylights, but didn't have a tall enough ladder to reach. Bob came out, with the right equipment, installed the shades, made sure they worked, and cleaned up the area after he was done."

"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"Daddy and Junior Paint is the best around! I have used them on several large and small jobs. They are the only company I call when I need work done. Rodolfo always returns my calls, shows up on time and completes a project on time or early. Every time I have used Rodolfo's services he has gone above and beyond for me. Rodolfo is also very personable and makes you feel comfortable around him and his employees. In our most recent project he drywalled three rooms which included all the walls and ceilings. Removed wallpaper and then skim coated walls. Rodolfo's finishing work with the trim was beautiful! When it came to color suggestion he walked me through the process of picking the perfect color. I will be using Daddy and Junior Paint for years to come."

"Eddie and Simon did a superb job repointing the masonry between the granite blocks in our 170+ year old garage's first story. The granite garage also serves as the foundation to a second story garage above it, so it bears quite a load. This garage faces the water and the Northeast Storms year round give it a good pounding. Additionally, it's on a major thoroughfare going up towards several industrial parks, so 18 wheel trucks, dump trucks and other heavy equipment send vibrations through from 5 AM until 8 PM most days of the week. Eddie & Simon did a great job reinforcing and repointing the granite blocks. They also did some repointing of the brick foundation in the house. I can't say enough good things about them."

"We contacted Gabe earlier in the spring and asked him for a quote, which he provided quickly and professionally. We asked him if it would be possible to do the job in the fall as we had roofers coming and didn't want the two to get in each others' way. He had no problem with that. We asked him to call us when he had time in the Fall. He called and gave us two weeks notice, then showed up when he said he would and power washed the house. They cleaned the house to within an inch of its life, quickly, professionally and perfectly.

Gabe painted our house, which is a Victorian, as well as performing detailed work on newels and accent shingles. The house used five different colors. Gabe also painted our garage, which used three different colors. He suggested colors, asked us what type of paint/stain we wanted to use, and worked with us to get the perfect match/fit for our house. He only uses the best paints, and makes sure that the work is done correctly. He explained to us why painters need to use scaffolding versus just hanging off of a ladder. His employees were professional, courteous, prompt and helpful. They were also as fast as they could be in our New England (read unpredictable and sometimes wet) weather.

Gabe also fixed siding and posts that had rotted. They did a lot of work on residing and replacing huge pieces of boards. The man's good with a drill! It's difficult with an old home to match things, but he did a great job. You can't tell the original from the repairs. We can't wait for him to fix our crumbing porches when he comes back! They're going to be works of art.

He also installed a gutter on the side of the house. We'd had two professional gutter companies come and quote us on putting gutters on our house. They just laughed. With all the pitches and angles and mouldings they said that putting gutters on the house would be impossible. When Gabe suggested that we put a gutter on the house (based upon what he saw from rot on the house) we were skeptical. But, when we saw what he'd done, it was amazing. It blends into the house, you can't even see the gutter or the downspout. He did it where others couldn't. It's going to help keep the cats' litter boxes from floating around the basement this winter, I know it!

In summary, he's not some fly-by-night college kid with a ladder and a paint brush. He's a *true* professional who knows his stuff. He has a team of excellent, well-trained and savvy men working for him, so he's not necessarily the cheapest quote you'll find. But you'll find no one better or more flexible than Gabe. You'll also be amazed at his ability to fix things, at his perfectionism and his dedication. We DEFINITELY plan on having Gabe come back and do more painting/handyman projects in the future.  And, hopefully a fiddle session or two, as well.

If I can figure out how, I'll post pictures of the house after Gabe was finished."

"It is very convenient, and reasonably priced.  The only thing that they could work on is the punctuality of the pick up times.  The rest of the experience was satisfactory.  My daughter has also used them.  I would highly recommend this service."

Small jobs welcome

"So glad we reached out to Mr. Handyman. We had a few rotting window frames and cringey weeds growing out of our gutters. Kip came to the rescue on an extremely hot day and worked from 10 am - 5 pm. He was soaked by the time he was finished. Kip did great work and we are so grateful to have these things taken care of!"

"My kitchen and bathroom renovations are in process. United Home Solutions was willing to step into renovations in process when the first contractor could not continue. The carpentry team is well along with installation of cabinets, trim and baseboards and will build custom shelving. The quality of the work is excellent. They worked with me to choose trim compatible with original trim in my 1860 clapboard home and it looks great! The board and plaster team closed up the remaining spaces with smooth walls. The countertop team and painter have been scheduled. These are good people to work with on a project that has endless decisions in my older home as they discuss the possibilities and know how to implement decisions reached."

Playground Equipment questions, answered by experts

For artificial turf that’s the most durable, look for heat-resistant products with thicker blades. Keep in mind that there’s a difference between artificial grass versus artificial turf, with turf consisting of a shorter look while artificial grass is longer and more closely resembles real grass.

Generally speaking, building a swing set is cheaper than buying a prefabricated one, but this assumes you have all the tools and knowledge to complete the project. The average cost to build a swing set is $514, but you should also factor in the time and effort it will require—if you don’t want to give up your weekend, it’s worth considering buying instead of building.

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

It’s usually possible to install a playground yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Playground construction can be complicated and involves moving large, heavy, and bulky components into place while you affix them to other pieces. Not only is the work physically demanding, but any mistakes could reduce the lifespan of your playground and potentially put any children who use the equipment at risk of injury. It’s relatively inexpensive to hire a professional playground installer, and it’s usually worth the investment, if only for the peace of mind it provides.

Yes! It’s always a good idea to anchor your playset. Even though they’re heavy, it doesn’t take much wind to blow one over. Anchoring everything to the ground makes it a lot safer for your kiddos.
