"Arlmont Glass replaced a broken living room window for me. First of all they will come to your home for a free estimate. Then will email the invoice for the job. Then you schedule the work. Three simple steps, everyone is polite and wonderful to do business with. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone or to use them again as my home has aging windows. Thank you for a job well done."

"I was looking to repair the putty around the panes on a 1930s vintage clear glass window and was afraid I got someone who specialized in stained glass and wouldn't want my job but he did a great job and even helped me with a second window I had forgotten about (only shows from the outside but needed same attention). Very flexible, very personable, a pleasure to work with. Thanks, Ken!"

"I brought my 2009 Toyota Camry to Tint King. They tinted all four doors and the back window. I chose their better quality product as I plan to have this car along time. The job took about and hour and a half. I waited onsite. It looks great. Real nice job. However the inside of my trunk was soaking wet after the job. Not sure how that happened but  I wish they would have cleaned up after themselves. I kinda wish that I had chosen a darker tint for the back doors and window but it is hard to tell how it is going to look until its done. I am happy with the job. It has been 3 months and no problems. The car looks great. If you go there they are around the back of the building at a garage bay not in the office part of the building.

"I feel really lucky to have found Louis (through Angie's List!).  Louis is a true craftsman who takes exceptional pride in his work and it really shows.  I wish every contractor I work with could be as passionate, dedicated, honest, and meticulous as Louis.  The work he did for me was priced right, completed on time, and looks fantastic.  It's funny to wax poetic about a concrete garage floor, but I love it--in our house, where everything has a few years on it, the garage floor is one of just a couple of things that are perfect.  It's as smooth as glass.  And since Louis did it, I'm certain it's going to continue looking great for decades.  A flip side of that is that he's steered me away from a couple of projects that he didn't think would last, or that we wouldn't be happy with because of some site limitations.  I really trust his judgment.
Louis is, moreover, just the nicest person (as is his wife Lourdes, who runs the office).  Sometimes with a contractor you want to make sure you overlap so you can keep track of them or ask them to fix something, etc.  With Louis, I always like overlapping with him because he and Lourdes are great to talk to.  He's always got something he's excited about with the project (and since he's always trying to outdo himself, there's always something exciting going on), or with family, or even the weather.  He's just such a solid guy.
Last thought--not only is Louis a great guy and a great craftsman, but he's a a great resource.  Louis seems to have a mental rolodex of other real pros who share his integrity and passion.  He doesn't work with shady types.  The next time I need work done on my house, I'll probably call Louis first, even if I don't think he'd do the job himself.
Highly, highly recommended.

"Victor was terrific. He came the day after I contacted him and was able to do most of the repair the same day. He told me that he would come back the next day to add some silicone sealant and did exactly as promised. I would absolutely hire Victor again."

"Actually they started it beginning of August, and they just finished it last Thursday. I had a little trouble with them. The deck came out beautiful but I tell you they were very unprofessional, they made me wait, they never called me for weeks. The reason they finished it was because I went to the top and I called the owner and complained about them because they were making me wait. They never gave me my railings, they told me that the company cut them too short and then 3 weeks later, they didn't call me to tell me what's going on so I finally had to call the owner. They did beautiful work but I wouldn't hire them again. They do a good job but if you don't want the work done right away, hire them but if you want the work done right away and you want punctuality and professionalism, I wouldn't call them. I think their workers were very unprofessional, they left cigarette butts all over my yard, they never magnetized my yard for all the nails and they blasted their radio while they were at my house "

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Glass block windows typically last for 15 to 30 years, which is slightly less than the 20- to 50-year lifespan of standard windows. You can extend their life by resealing them every few years. Professional installation is also key to ensuring the windows are placed correctly and will function properly for years to come. A professional installer will have the necessary skills, tools, and knowledge to install these features and can identify potential issues like damaged frames or cramped areas during a consultation.

Their thickness depends on application, but most glass walls are typically 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch thick. Although it’s not as common, single panes of glass can also be 1 inch thick.

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.

Glass block mortar is the best choice for glass block window units. It is specifically formulated for glass block window installation. Glass block mortar is usually a mixture of Portland cement, sand, and special chemicals. It is a white mortar that is applicable inside and outside your home. Do not use regular tile mortar because it may not have the binding strength and flexibility required for glass block windows.
