They removed old siding, a backer used for the siding, and then the cedar shakes we had. They replaced any bad wood underneath. Then, they put new, better, thicker (waterproof) backing up, sealed the backing edges with tape; and put up the new siding. Took them 2+ weeks. They cleaned up multiple times.
