Like many common door problems, warping can be caused by improper installation. When a door isn't installed correctly, there's a good chance that the poor seal is allowing moisture and drafts to seep through. When this happens, humidity will build up in the wood until it swells and warps.

Generally, silicone-based sprays and greases are considered the best options for lubricating door hinges because they offer a long-lasting, easy-to-clean finish that can also help to prevent long-term rust and corrosion. Avoid food-grade oils that can "gum up" hinges or other parts of a door over time.

You should generally cut between 1/8-inch and 1 inch when planing a door. If you cut off more than that, you risk damaging the door. Planing too much from the bottom of your door can cause noticeable gaps, so it’s always better to start with as thin of a section as possible and work in thin layers until your door no longer sticks.

Fixing the leaky door frame will require caulking, new weather stripping, or a complete installation of a new door. Even more important is making sure the door is protected from the elements by an awning, entry roof, or roof overhang. This small detail ensures that even a poorly weather-stripped door will fare well in precipitation, except for the rare occasion when strong wind gusts drive rain and snow horizontally. 

Most pros use wood putty to fill in holes in a stained wood door since attempting to match new stain to old stain—even using stainable wood filler—is difficult. Start by buying a wood putty similar in color to your stained wood door and blend different colors of putty if needed. For larger holes, it might be a better idea to replace the hollow core door, as hiding the hole will prove to be a challenge. You could also fix the hole with spray foam and spackle and then paint your entire door for a fresh appearance.
